My brother sends me eggs from the Amish in Montana. Delicious. Once you

eat these eggs you will never go to the super mkt for eggs. Incidentally their

butter is also out of sight. sharon

Oh yeah! Ahh the good old days, I used to live in Amish country in Ohio and

would buy all my veggies and cheese and butter from them. Farm fresh eggs cost

a fortune but I still pay it since I now live in Houston and don't know where to

go to find a farm that sells them. Store bought eggs have a pale yellow center

and the whites are thin and watery and spread all over the pan. Farm raised

eggs are just the opposite. The yolks are nice and bright yellow some with that

little spot of red to let you know they are fertile, the whites are nice and

round and firm. Sure do miss life on the farm. We used to raise chickens

that are called the Easter Egg Chicken as the shells were pastel greenish blue,

pinkish beige and cream colored. I can't spell the name but think it's

Araconas?? They produce eggs lower in Cholesterol than normal chickens...

Pretty cool.

There is nothing like a small town or living close to farm folks. I have my

herbs in pots all over the place now and found that cherry tomatoes make great

hanging plants...My sister Still has offspring of the chickens we had as kids.

I'm in my 50's and we got our first chickens when we were 7 or 8 years old.

Many generations of chickens have come and gone from those few we started with

so many years ago.
