Guest guest
Regarding getting a beekeeper to come out and catch the bees as opposed to having an exterminator come out to zap them: It depends upon where you live. If you live in Texas or some other border states, most beekeepers won't catch hives because they might be Killer bees. A couple of years ago I called all over the place for someone to come to get bees that had made home in a tree way too close to the house, they would not do it. Some beekeepers in Arizona say the Africanized bees aren't that bad. After talking to a couple of beekeepers this past weekend, I'm not all that sure any more. One of them said, " I've been to Costa Rica -- yes, Killer bees are something you don't want. " More and more the science is showing it's a mite, or a fungus. European bees are weaker in that regard than their African cousins. They think it's attributable to beekeepers trucking their hives long distances, away from the bees natural backgrounds. By the way, Albert Einstein never did say " If bees die, nothing gets pollinated " (or something like that). There other pollinators, including wasps and the wind.
