Guest guest
Okay, I bought the book last week. I read about a quarter of it on Monday and somehow have lost it somewhere here in the house.... reminds me of the snake who got out and suddenly appeared in his/her tank again... House gremlins are laughing at me.... ANYWAY... Who was it who said that everything we've ever thought has already been thought before... or there is no such thing as an original thought... I'm not digressing, really I'm not. It's just that when reading this book, I keep flashing back to the " OLD " thought that used to go round... anyone heard of " The Power of Positive Thinking " ? That's prolly not a real title, but it sure was going around a lot several/many years/decades ago. I swear it's the same idea in a new package. As I said though, I only got a quarter of the way through it before I lost it. The book I mean, not " IT " as in sense of humour, or calm or rational thought... although there are many who would argue that I never had a rational thought in my life... and this post is not helping my position that I believe that once or twice I HAVE had a rational thought... now I'm just rambling off into tangent-heaven. ANYWAY... The Secret = The Power of Positive Thinking... Yay or nay? I hope to find that book again one of these days and make my own mind up (If I can track THAT down), but interested in hearing the thoughts of others who are familiar with both... Going to bed now, I think I'm confusing myself. K -- Cheers! Kathleen Petrides The Woobey Queen Http://www.woobeyworld.com
Guest guest
Kathleen, It's recycled. No waste here. Dale Carnegie comes to mind and well as the _Power of Positive Thinking_ and be careful. Lots of cultist thinking in this mess also. It all boils down to - " Let's see how I can get your money. " And they got you to buy a book of recycled, prettied up information. It's ok, just be careful. Same info has been out there for years and years and years. It's in the Bible, it's taught by Dr. Wayne Dyer, Stuart Wilde, and don't ever forget Jonathon Livingston Seagull. Guest guest
I love how much attention The Secret is getting. My neighbor/friend introduced me to it about a year ago. Before the book was in the store or the folks were on Oprah. We watched the video online at their website. It's like 5 bucks to view it. The one they sell now is actually a new version since one of the gals (last name Abraham) decided she didn't want to be in it anymore. I think they just cut her part out. I've watched the video several times now. It's a must! I've not read the book, but my friend has it and I flipped through it. Anyway, this is so much more than positive thinking. The law of Attraction is more like it. That's been known forever I think, but to me The Secret teaches us how to better use it or rather, harness the Power of the Universe. I've used a lot of the suggestions in The Secret and so has my oldest son and it WORKS I tell you! I especially like the check thing instead of bills in the mail. I started focusing on that one and let me tell you, it's great to get those checks in the mail, especially when you are not expecting them. The bills are still there of course, but the checks sure make me feel better! My neighbor is so into The Secret and using the Law of Attraction that she started a business selling shirts that she designed the images on. I guess my main thing I use is realizing and recognizing the things, people, blessings, etc... in my life that I am grateful for. I really liked the guys gratitude rock and I even have some myself. Okay, probably enough rambling, but really I am so glad that Rhonda put The Secret out to bring this into a different perspective and now it is reaching so many people. Just imagine if enough people were thinking about World Peace! Let's manifest that one!!! Here's some links cuz I know you want to check them out! http://thesecret.tv http://www.manifes-t.com this is my friends website. And also, like Chris mentioned, get the book by Jack Canfield " The Success Principles " . I've not finished yet, but it's been great so far. I also got Hale Dwoskin's book and tapes " The Sedona Method " . Freeing for sure! http://www.sedona.com Have a great day everyone! Guest guest
Oh! I loved Johnathon Livingston Seagull. My best friend mailed it to me when I was working in Sun Valley and feeling a bit blue. I'm not a cultish type person... too darned lazy to go apesh*it for a start, also a born cynic! LOL! But it was recommended so I thought I'd try it... still can't find the darn thing. Guest guest
It's out there if you can't find your copy. You can probably find it on Amazon. Karen - Kathleen Petrides Oh! Guest guest
I'm sorry, I find I can't cut and paste these days. Kathleen, one more thing - Don't forget _The Little Engine That Could!_ I may sound sarcastic, but I don't mean to be. These are all versions of the same theory. Guest guest
Yes, she is the one. There are many folks teaching the same basic " stuff " . I like to take it all in and apply to me what fits the best. Hype or not, it works.
