Guest guest
OH Kathleen, How wonderful. Ballarinos are wonderful. I've known several. Did you know that a lot of football players and basketball players do ballet? It helps with coordination. Your son is way ahead of the game. You say he's been outed like it is something bad. I say encourage the boy to understand that it is a wonderful thing. There might be someone out there that needs encouragment in his school and seeing that he's Man enough to be in a class like that. Will help. Also. Where else can 1 boy be surrounded by all those girls. Now for that teacher, I'd tell her that you'd appreciate if she kept her mouth shut about your son's personal life. That was his information to share if and when he wanted to. However, you can thank her because it will help you to help him understand that just because he likes ballet doesn't mean he is a freak. And if you need someone to talk you you can email me off list. BTW. Ballet builds Character. He's 11 and has had been having a tough time at school with bullies and kids picking on him. He had JUST gotten to a spot where he was making and receiving " friendship overtures " from some of the boys and then THIS happens. As I said, he's 11 and you KNOW how difficult that can be... now imagine you're an 11 year old boy who's teacher just announced to the class that you're in BALLET! The kid loves it, he just didn't want the other kids in class/school to know about it. Today he couldn't think of something to write so his teacher casually mentions why doesn't he write about what it was like to dance in the ballet production " the Nutcracker " . Apparently a couple of girls giggled and now he's mortified. He called saying he wants to come home. Now of course he's going to get all defensive and upset and set things back for himself. I left a message on the phone for the teacher to call me back. Now I gotta figure out what to say and do... >sigh< K -- Cheers!
