I got snookered by this one, too. This one isn't accurate, peeps.

And I hate nutrasweet, too, so I was hoping it was....but I can't

claim it is a good ant poison.

Check it out at http://www.snopes.com/humor/iftrue/antpoison.asp.

Cheers,

Christina

Hello,

Not sure if I am introducing my self for the second time here, but I just

joined several groups and am a bit confused.

My name is Suzen and I live in New Mexico, and I am enjoying this group very

much.

I forwarded that information about aspartame having formaldehyde in it to

several friends.

I got this reply from one of them:

http://search.atomz.com/search/?sp-q=Aspartame & getit=Go & sp-a=00062d45-sp00000000\

& sp-advanced=1 & sp-p=all & sp-w-control=1 & sp-w=alike & sp-date-range=-1 & sp-x=any & sp-c\

=100 & sp-m=1 & sp-s=0

See: Above (www.snopes.com) Aspartame

I did check the link, but didn't find anything that refuted the fact of the

formaldehyde (sp?), just that it was never used as an ant poison.

so does anyone know if the formaldehyde part is true or not?

(here's the copy/paste from the post that I forwarded)

" I will explain why Aspartame is so dangerous:

When the temperature of this sweetener exceeds 86 degrees F,

The wood alcohol in ASPARTAME converts to formaldehyde

and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis.

If it says 'SUGAR FREE' on the label;

DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! "

Thanks!

suzen

Hello,

just got this email and want to thank you for the clarification.

Too much inside my head at the moment!

that is why some of the athletes drop down dead, apparently it is the wood

alcohol in the sweetener in the energy drinks.

On that message of formaldehyde, don't forget about those blankets which

have many hundreds of times above the allowed levels. Actil and Sheridan

made in China.

LOL

However, many studies which have not been sponsored by the food industry

highlight potential dangers. Professor Ralph Walton of Northwestern Ohio

Universities said: " I dispute the assertion that there are no health risks.

" I believe Aspartame increases risk of cancer. Virtually all the studies

attesting to its safety have been funded by the industry. "

One independent study on animals shows how digestion breaks Aspartame down

into formaldehyde, which accumulates in the animals' cells, damaging DNA and

poisoning the liver, kidneys, eye and brain. However, the manufacturers

argue that all the constituents of Aspartame are found in much greater

quantities in natural drinks such as milk and tomato juice, and are not

considered a health risk.

In the US, there are now five Aspartame detox centres. Symptoms reported to

America's Food and Drug Administration include headaches, skin problems,

stomach disorders, poor vision, depression, carbohydrate cravings, panic

attacks, irregular heart rhythms and seizures. For more information send an

SAE to Geoff Brewer, Additives Survivors Network, 63 Downlands Road,

Devizes, SN10 5EF or visit the online support group at www.dorway.com END OF
