Guest guest
This is an interesting year in the garden. Yesterday I noticed that the only one of my Helichrysum plants to survive the winter is covered in caterpillars. They will soon be butterflies - I won't kill them. There are other plants growing down the hill. The row of grosso lavender is about to burst into bloom. I can't wait! We put in a whole blueberry patch. Several different varieties so that they are fruiting at different times. The groundhog was eating the sweet peas and eyeing the blueberries, so I staked both of those areas off with bird netting. That must have made him mad, because he walked over to the row of pepper plants and snapped on off. Hah. I planted extra. Guest guest
In my neck of the sub tropical jungle, its getting to be in the mid 90's and humid. Summer is here. My bananas, which we cut to the ground in spring, are taller than I am and looking happy. I've let some fennel go to seed. I also have some small plants growing off the " mother stem " as I call it. It started out as the first fennel bulb I cut last year and it just keeps growing fennel bulbs from it Spearmint and rosemary are prolific ... .... so are the mosquitoes Not much else noteworthy to mention at the moment. Hopefully I'll get some grapes on my vines this year and will have them to talk about soon! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
There are mostly flowers growing in my garden. Last fall we mulched our entire back yard with the intention of landscaping the whole thing as a flower garden, with a few herbs to boot. We have hibuscus, lots of day and Asian lilies, lavender, wild geranium, hydrangeas all in bloom now. The climbing roses are just finishing up their first cycle, but my rose rugosa is still going strong. And lots of annuals in there too. The only food item we have this year is green beans, and they are doing well and about to be staked. Wow, you are growing bananas, Chris?!
