Guest guest
OK, the books. The important stuff. 1) Right off the top of my head, the best one on safety is definitely Martin Watt's " Plant Aromatics " . 2) I also use Chrissie Wildwood " Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of Aromatherapy " . 3) Monographs from Martin's site (http://www.aromamedical.com/) are very useful. 4) From the old days I still keep Julia Lawless's " Encyclopedia of Essential Oils " although over time I found it to be a bit confusing as she tends to attribute the properties of herbs to the oils. <http://www.amazon.com/Fragrant-Mind-Aromatherapy-Personality-Emotion/dp/1880032\ 910/ref=sr_1_2/102-0068127-5659343?ie=UTF8 & s=books & qid=1182396235 & sr=8-2>5) " The Fragrant Mind: Aromatherapy for Personality, Mind and Emotion " by Valerie Ann Worwood is one of my favorites, although it tends to be a bit too new-agey to my taste. 6) And the one book that got me started - although I've outgrown it a long time ago, but still keep and use it occasionally - is " Aromatherapy: A Lifteime Guide to Healing with Essential Oils " by Valerie Cooksley. These are the books that survived their trial in my library. It does not mean that I take at face value absolutely everything I find there. But they do contain a decent enough proportion of useful information and are /generally/ trustworthy. I also tend to look for AT-related scientific papers on the web, whenever I can find them. Sometimes they help shed a bit more light on what's going on (if you make an appropriate adjustment for the scientific bias). I will be very interested in other people's suggestions of good books to read.
