Guest guest
but not tonight. Been suffering from a migraine and then today I felt like I'd been on a bender without the " pleasure " . No headache, but shakey hands, neck muscles were sore and stomach felt as though there was a grinder in there... and NO WONDER! Last night before I went to bed, I popped some more pills, finally read the lable... SHEESH! It' said, " take no more than two in a 24 hour period " , This was right after I sucked down pill number TWELVE in a fourteen hour period... needless to say, I've been paying for it today. Thank the Gods the migraine left about 7 this morning, I don't think I could do that again. Saw the quack yesterday, she's prescribed me some migraine pills, not OTC, but something else... I can take SIX of these in a day... one at a time. Knowing me, if they get bad enough, I'll prolly double it. I'll be picking them up tomorrow... first time in YeaRS that I'll actually pick up something that's been prescribed for me. If you've had a migraine before, you KNOW you'll do just about anything to try and ease the pain. I once had a friend who had morphine due to excruciating back pain. These weren't polite little morphine pills, these were heavy duty stuff... she offered and I took one.... 24 hours later I went through withdrawl (No I'm NOT kidding, who'd a thunk, withdrawls from one stupid little pill!).... Sweats, shakes, nausea, the whole kit and kaboodle. And the worse part? Didn't even TOUCH the dang head pain. Same with Vicodin... doesn't touch migraines... but the good thing is... put's me to sleep. Which in and of itself is a blessing. At any rate, I'm hoping these new things will do the trick... starts with an M.... Lemme google, brb.... There it is, Maxalt. Know NOTHING about it, I suppose I should go and do some reading. Anywho, there's several folk who have written me and I haven't answered... truth to tell, there's really only 2 folk I wrote to and I owe one of them a reply... tomorrow. ;-) I just haven't been up to it. Prepare yourself for a slew of business notes including a revisit to the ole shopping cart subject.... Nite all K -- Cheers! Anyway, had a 14 day, count that..migraine starting on christmas day 06. On day 10 I finally cakled my doc and said help. He had a cow, sent me for loads of tests, he was sure I had a bleed. 3 grand later, oh it's a weird migraine. I went to a neurologist (Now I am a nurse, ED medicine for 30+ years), The neurologist listend to my story of sinus HA and Tension HA and occasional migraines. He said they were all migraines called them Cascade type. Anyway he wanted me to start taking something to prevent them, (Also said all the motrin/tylenol I was taking was giving me rebound HA). I balked at the Rx meds he offered. I don't tolerate, Maxalt or any of the anti depressants that are offered for Migraine control. He had recently been to a conference regarding " Natural management " of same. He and I have been evaluating a B2/Magnesium protocol. I have not had any kind of HA since week 5 of the protocol. Now for my official disclaimer....Talk to your Doc before trying this! Magnesium 400mg per day x 1 week then 800mg per day, Riboflavin 200mg 2 times a day. I use B100 which has alot of the B's at 100mg, (Hard to find B2 by itself, I take 2 B100's 2 x a day without ill effect). I will admit the first few weeks of nothing, no motrin no tylenol, no nothing (Especially since I have traumatic arthritis) were difficult, but I have to say, for me it has worked like a charm! I take minimal motrin for arthritis, and use my aches and pains oil first to help manage that problem. Hope this helps, it has made a world of difference for me...my kids make sure I take the supplements every day, cause when mom ain't happy nobodies happy. I feel your pain Kathleen. Regarding the narcotics. I caution all of my patients that even a few days on them, will cause withdrawal, rebound HA, nausea, dizziness, sweats etc. Take them only when absolutely necessary, and stop as quickly as you can. I always recommend that folks take motrin/tylenol a few hours after the narcotic, to potentiate/extend the effect, thus reducing their need for more narcotics. Old ED trick to reduce narcotic use.
