Hallo soapers and oilers,

I have been on no-mail with all groups, since I am

much too happy outside in the garden and am mainly

ignoring the computer.

But you all came into my mind when I came across this.

Nice for people who sell home-made soap and for those

who sell Essential Oils.

Slowly, the word about toxic personal care products

is trickling out!

This item came from the list of Chet Day. I love Chet.

Lots of good information, delivered with humor and

common sense.

Make Your Own Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

By Clair Saunders-Grant

Apparently cypress is quite effective in treating

dandruff, but as I don't like the smell particularly, I

added a few other ingredients to make it more

interesting.

50 g (3.5 tbs) soapflakes or grated pure soap

500 mls (17 ounces) spring water

Heat the water and add the soap, stirring until melted.

Pour into containers to cool. The mixture will keep for

ages but may go a bit lumpy. If it does, just stir it to

make it smooth again.

To 10 mls (2 tsp) of shampoo mixture (above) or baby

shampoo, add 1 drop of orange essential oil, 3 drops of

cypress essential oil, and 1 drop of sandalwood essential

oil. Mix well before shampooing into hair.

Alternatively mix the essential oils into

9 mls (1.8 tsp) of sweet almond oil and

1 ml (.2 tsp) of jojoba or olive oil.

Dip fingers into mixture and massage into scalp for 5

minutes. Leave overnight and wash out in the morning.

Sounds cool but the leaving on the hair all night. I can also attest to

using a bit of tea tree oil. I used to use shampoo from the Whole foods

store, but now I make my own and I add salicylic acid to the mix too. (I

used to just crush aspirin in the bottle to help) Granted I now know that

White willow bark does the same thing...

another thing if you have psoriatic type dandruff as I do. Tamanu oil and

neem oil and emu oil Just a dab will do you on the spots that have the

psoriatic type dandruff on them....
