Guest guest
ok, I'm in sort of a quandry here - my little 6 yr old grand daughter is staying with me for the next 2 weeks while her parents are in Scotland and she came this morning with a slight fever and not feeling well. They BEGGED me to please please give her thieves (3 drops on back of tongue 3x a day) of course the brand is YL as mom is a believer in YL ... but anyway, this little baby obediently opens her mouth and then as soon as you give her the thieves, she sucks down a glass of water to kill the burn ... surely this can't be good for such a young soul?? Her little hands shake when she gulps down the water and I'm just sick that I'm probably ruining her liver or something. Anyone have any input of whether this is safe or not? thanks! Guest guest
Yes -- my input is that it is NOT SAFE. If you feel guilty not obeying the parents' wishes, I suggest thinking about how you'd feel if something awful happened to her while she was under your care. All you need to say to the parents is that you have read too many warnings against giving this mixture to a child this age, and that you are too uncomfortable with it to take responsibility for the possible consequences. Describe her reaction to taking it, like you did in your post, and tell them that this added to your sense of unease, and that you will keep them updated on her condition. At least, that's what I would do. Naturally you know what would work with them better than I. Susan
Guest guest
I concurr. Anything neat like that inside of a child... In my book is a no no. I would explain my position to them as well. I would suggest that maybe I could dilute it in a 64 oz glass of water or even more. Depending on what it's made of and if it's just an extract or if it's eos. Children's systems are still growing so you want to be as careful as you can with them when you take care of them, and I would not feel guilty because... Honestly you believe you are doing the right thing by the information you know and have. You are not doing this to hurt their feelings. You are doing it because you love your grandchild. haud desiderium sieze dies Orbis terrarum est meus oyster vos mos non subsisto mihi EGO sum a comic indoles Jennifer Janek-Markey Soapywench _____ On Behalf Of Susan Gerritsen Monday, August 27, 2007 5:38 PM Re: Thieves and children.... Guest guest
They do say it is save at least at YL. But I think that is too much for any child to take. You can give her better things than that for a fever. I use cinnamon in chamomile tea because chamomile and cinnamon are both good for colds and fevers. If their tummies are upset I use peppermint tea with euclyptus oil but I only put in 1 drop of the EO's . And I only give that to my children 2x's a day. I also use a diffuser to help cleanse the house with essential oils like ginger, oregano, peppermint, cinnamon etc. You get the idea. My 6 yr old would rather the tea anyway. You could very easily take tea and put 1 drop of thieves in it for the child. Guest guest
I am so tired of Young Living and their cons and scams. Thieves would have been one of the first names they invented, being the word in front of their minds at the time. They have moved into our area in recent times (The Aus main rep who hangs with Gary as a foursome on their world adventures. (makes me sick really) I know why they are here, to exploit our last vestiges of tea tree and eucalyptus. Get an idea of what Y L is really about, do a web search on say our Aus rep Artemis and discover how they have every holistic market covered, maybe even enjoy one of her sumptuous raindrops courses or something with snacks served off the stolen silver. If I could I would put a filter on to block all and any content mentioning YL or any of its subsidiary holistic hoodwinkum scams. Dont forget the wolfberry which conned the world too, it turns out to contain less vitamin c than an orange and no other benefits.!!! Guest guest
Dear Pam, I do not post often but after reading your post I just had to comment. What they want you to do is reckless, unsafe and has no research to prove it works or that it is safe as the company wants their followers to think. I have heard of many thing that YL people that just turns me upside down but if a person wants to be reckless...they should do it on themself and especially not on a child. I would not put that oil anywhere near the child. Sorry you have to deal with this but I suggest you listen to that little voice inside you that screams when you do as the parents asked.
