Essential oil safety.

This is something that I am coming to learn is something that is severely

needed in the industry. From Corporate interests to the home soap maker and

everything in between.

I have heard some of the most horrible things have happened because one

person used the lack of knowledge and massive marketing campaigns and of

course the ones affected are genuine caring people who do what they do out

of a love for humanity and healing and natural perfumery. If there's anyone

out there that I missed I'm sorry as I am in a snit right now and it's very

hard to interrupt me when I'm like this. So.

That said. Please people use common sense. Essential oils are massively

concentrated. Yes they are natural; however, hemlock is natural too and it

is not good for you. Socrates taught us this.

Please remember it is concentrated. That means if you have an essential oil

and you put it on your skin neat. Statistically you can only do this so

many times without it hurting you. Then there is the distinct possibility

that it will injure you off the bat. (why harm yourself or a loved one if

you can keep it from happening?)

Please. Research any one that tells you to put Essential oils on your skin

without having some sort of dilution. The higher dilution the better.

Meaning some sort of carrier oil, in ounces and essential oils in drops.

Please. BE SMART about this. This is your health you are messing with if

you don't. And GOD in heaven if anyone tells you to put anything on your

skin neat please don't do it. And internally is a big no no too..

Thank you.

[Dave]: The chain I work for sells EOs, and there are times I wish we did

not. I've taken Martin Watts' book, Plant Aromatics, to work with me

several times with an eye to passing it around the vitamins & supplements

department, but - get this - No One Is Interested!!!! If staff was simply

qualified to field questions it would be a good thing. Instead, we have

booklets put out by the companies that sell the EOs, that tell of all their

wonderful qualities and NEVER say a thing about their dangers. I think that

our failure to police ourselves and educate our consumers will just

encourage the gummint to do it for us - make that TO us - and the world will

be poorer for it.
