Adults and children alike love it. It seems to make a lot but it does get consumed, especially in cold weather, in hot weather it may be used in the same way as iced tea or cordials. Into a large Pot/Boiler/Cauldron add: Ingredients. 1 Flagon Port or Muscatel wine (2 Litres-(( alcohol will be cooked out))) Bag of Oranges ( 5 lb or 2.5 kg ) washed and cut in half, squeezed into pot. (Can put in Muslin or stocking to make it easy to remove rinds and pips later, other ingredients can also be placed into muslin or stocking.) 5 lemons, cut in half and juiced, adding rind of only one lemon. 2-6 Limes cut in half (optional ) 1-2 basil or oregano leaves (optional, but dont overdo it) 1 lb cumquat is also delicious in this recipe or use good tablespoon marmalade or cumquat jelly. 1 6 inch cinnamon stick, 3 cloves, 1 nutmeg, can be freshly grated or cracked or added whole and reused a few times. 1-2 star anise, Lime leaves 1-2, 1-2 tblsp pre made sweet garam marsala (optional but adds a special piquancy. Bring this mixture to the boil and allow to boil pretty rapidly for 5 min, leaving the lid off and keeping well away. Unless of course you want to get stinkin roaring drunk off the fumes that arise, and I would not smoke over it either. After a few minutes the alcohol will be gone and it can be simmered gently for an hour or more allowing the wine to reduce and the oils of the citrus to be released intot he brew, as are the flavours and values of the various herbs and dried ingredients. It is a delicious drink in winter and a variation of Mulled Wine, a timeless classic from at least middle ages. Another great version is a plunger brew using dried rinds and the spices and herbs with honey. It brews pretty quickly and the plunger leaves the cloves and cinnamon, nutmeg and anise behind. - " goldencougarwolf " <nlring80962 Thieves and children.... > They do say it is save at least at YL. Guest guest
If the fever is only slight, why not just let it run its course. Fever is one of the body's ways of eliminating. If you suppress the fever, then the body just has to find another way to get rid of what it's trying to eliminate.
