Thieves formula input

Hi all:

Am taking a quick break and thought I'd put my 2cents worth in about the

thieves formula. ;)

Just the other day I read something about one of the older Thieves formulas

had some or all of it's base as 'Propylene Glycol'. Could not believe it! Not

sure if I saved it or not. Odd to be sure that it was an ingredient.

Some of you know that I don't work with it, even in the animal formulas I

make~altho the FDA says it can be used in small amounts, and we get small

amounts in several foods. We personally use the 'highest food grade possible' of

'Vegetable Glycerin' instead. It costs more, but worth it for my peace of mind.

We're facing moral and biz questions about it now in our new line of trapping

lures. All of these old time trapping guys use Propylene Glycol as their

tincture base! You read that right, instead of alcohol, vinegar, or glycerin.

To be graphic about it... I don't want a deer or any other animal on my

property to eat a gallon of the cheap food lure from the local mart or co-op

(believe me it is sold by the gallon very cheap~and meant for you to pour the

whole gallon out and buy more) and have babies the next season be deformed in

any way, nor do I want to eat that meat from a deer that has eaten that much

propylene glycol! It is/was the major anti-freeze ingredient, the sweet one

that kills so many animals~both domestic and wild! And is the main ingredient

to many food lures on the market.

My challenge is to educate the ole timers a bit, and sell them a few quality

supplies so they can perhaps change some terrible formulas as the old ones leave

the biz and new ones come along. You don't even want to know how lure supplies

folks can mess up an essential oil! <groan>

Plain and simple: Propylene Glycol causes birth defects, deformities, etc.

Altho we get small amounts of it in some fruit flavorings, etc. cuz the FDA says

folks can use it, I would not put it past Young Living to be using it in their

formulation. I've never used their products, but the stories are real~to be

sure.

What a shame that any company would put so many unsafe eo's or harsh herbs in

a formula, and then teach folks to use it on their innocent children! Guess

Gary Young is going into new Countries in case he gets thrown out of this

one~and he should be thrown out!

Surely my recall is not so bad, hee hee I'm known for that famous recall,

altho it's aging a bit~that I can't remember that the thieves formula was never

set up for essential oils, but was made with herbs and vinegar.

Whoever let the dogs out...sick them on Gary Young!

Thanks a bunch for letting me express my thoughts on this story line. Sorry

for the graphic nature of my post, we don't go overboard, nor believe in dealing

with extreme animal activists, but have morals to be sure, so please do not

attack if you are extreme. When you farm a bit & make hunting lures, you can't

afford to deal with such.. ;)

A most fragrant day to you and yours,

deb~who's break from the stinky stuff has just ended....;)
