Guest guest
On a good note. The Climate Change should and will start making other areas ideal places for raising ad nurturing these crops. In the near future it may be possible the climate will be ideal for certain plant species that provide rare oils. Perhaps even the dear Myrrh may be regenerated, (Just trying for a positive spin) Blessings, Leslie - " Butch Owen " <butchowen Thursday, September 06, 2007 6:42 AM Certain Increase In Essential Oil Prices > Hi y'all, > > A few days ago I made a post to the group and down in the body of that > post I mentioned that climate change this year and last has had an > impact on essential oils prices .. for those who might not have read > down that far I will mention it again now, but I'll not just hit on > climate change .. A month or so ago I brought in something from Australia, identical order that I placed last year. The price in Australian dollars was identical; the producer had not changed their price. but MY actual cost in US dollars was about 58% higher than the summer before. The Australian dollar became stronger, the US dollar became weaker, and transportation costs skyrocketed. Anyone who doesn't count the cost of transporting what they import as part of their cost for the product is going to lose their shirt. People are asking me for bulk quotes on products that I know I CAN replace, but I'm almost afraid to quote because I have no idea what the replacement is going to cost me. As I said in our August newsletter, there are some weeks that I wish we sold can openers! (not really!!!) Another factor, not a huge cost, but puzzling. We are now paying customs duty on products that we NEVER paid duty on before. I don't understand it, but there's nothing I can do about it.
