Guest guest
Howdy Leslie .. other good folks .. Some of the folks in the Bee industry might be spinning facts for the benefit of their constituents .. or for their own benefit .. because there is more to the story. ;-) > > But Australia's honeybee industry has rejected the findings. > There is really nothing to reject at present .. no findings are claimed to be conclusive. I doubt that folks in the entire Aussie Honeybee industry have rejected the findings .. its just the Association taking a normal stance to protect their members .. that's what they get paid to do. Australian Honeybee Industry Association spokesman Stephen Ware says the > report has unfairly jeopardised Australia's $5 million live export market. > That is the issue now .. whether it is unfair or not will be determined after further research. I'm sure Mr. Ware knows that this is a potential problem for the world and that $5 million in exports is a drop in the bucket compared to the potential loss of hundreds of billions of bucks if these little pollinating critters go belly up. Obviously, the folks in power in Oz and the rest of the world will work together to find the problem and a solution .. so Mr. Ware is simply posturing. ;-) > " We believe that it's un-scientific. The jury is still out on what > causes colony collapse disorder or for that matter, whether there is such a > thing as colony collapse disorder, " he said. > Many articles have been presented across the media net the last few days .. Mr. Ware has either not read them or is taking a " company line " to portray himself as being a defender of the industry in Oz. " We're concerned that this report in the United States may be used by > some as an excuse to prevent exports from Australia to the United States. " > A valid concern this is .. it might be used to prevent the export of bees from Oz. Mr Ware says the report is scientifically flawed. > > http://www.bigpond.com/news/national/content/20070907/2026573.asp > If the present report is scientifically flawed .. the followup research will show that to be the case .. below is but one of the many news articles presented in the last few days. http://news.aol.com/story/ar/_a/has-mystery-of-bee-deaths-been-solved/2007090615\ 4909990001?ncid=NWS00010000000001 Intersting story. > Lslie > It is that ..for sure, and similar to the Bird Flu and Mad Cow problems .. one that will pit the economies or some nations against those of others. Another article I read indicated that scientists had not concluded that the virus was the ONLY problem (same as stated above) .. or that stopping the import of bees from Oz would stop the problem .. but .. according to consensus .. we should cast aside theories about the cause of Colony Collapse Disorder being Climate Change or Cellular Telephone transmissions. That might also be a premature statement because the possibility exists that the virus could be .. in some way .. affected by Climate Change. The Ebola Virus, for example, is one that can become more of a problem as the Earth warms. Many Viruses are activated or go into retrograde based on temperatures .. as well as other climate changes. A number of Israelis have protested newspaper reports that call the virus an " Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus " .. because that too is not proven .. it was just discovered by an Israeli scientist. ;-) Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch .. http://www.AV-AT.com PS: This falls right in with the other conditions that are driving up the cost of Essential Oils. If you've ever been around fields of aromatic plants .. especially the Rose Fields of Isparta, Turkey or Kazan, Bulgaria ... you'll know that bees swarm those fields. I expect a shortage of bees would be more disastrous to the Rose crops than would a shortage of water .. folks can always irrigate but finding enough bees to bring into the valleys in Turkey and Bulgaria would be a major problem.
