Guest guest
I've had so many emails offline, that I decided to post an answer online. I hope there are no objections. I'll just mention the basics. As I mentioned earlier, I breed naturally raised GERMAN Shepherd Dogs. All of my dogs are fed a raw diet. Raw meat, bones, and a few veggies. They NEVER have kibble. They eat lots of chicken breast bones, backs, organs - and yes, they eat the bones (never give ANY kind of cooked bone). The other main thing I DON'T do is vaccinate. Their immune systems are developed naturally and I do titer tests if necessary to confirm the presence of anti-bodies. I don't worm them or use chemical controls for fleas or other pests. I only use whole food supplements such as kelp and garlic. I use natural remedies for them when necessary. I don't use chemical cleaners, pesticides, fertilizers, etc. in my home or yard. If you want to switch your dog to a raw diet, please contact me offline for information on how to switch them, how to find raw dog foods, and what to feed. Some of the benefits of feeding a raw diet are mentioned on my website. Most people are pretty amazed at the visible change when they switch from kibble to raw. Here are some links to other good sources of information. Hope this helps many of your 4-legged friends. The facts about kibble are hard to stomach. I won't mention them here, but again, you can find information at some of the sites I'll list below. Guest guest
I would have to argue this : " The other main thing I DON'T do is vaccinate " Don't know where you live but here not vaccinating against rabies is against the law and not only will you get fined, animal control (the dog catchers) can and will take your dog. Guest guest
I should have been more specific. Yes, I do vaccinate for rabies. It is a legal requirement in every state, although specific state guidelines can vary. That is another area where significant progress is being made though. I do support and promote the rabies challenge fund: www.rabieschallengefund.org <http://www.rabieschallengefund.org> . Guest guest
I for one do not vaccinate my older dogs. My vet told me off the record that after she was 7, my poodle did not need another rabies, that she was totally covered. I have friends who do titers on their dogs, therefore having proof that they are covered in a legal challenge. If you have a house dog, that's one thing, but with an outside dog, it would be tough. I am about to attempt an EO flea collar for my younger dog, as we have had a *horrendous* year for fleas. It's like kids getting chicken pox. Unless something serious wipes out their immune system (like chemo) they don't get it again. PLEASE be very careful with EOs on your pets. Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is an excellent product for fleas as well as intestinal parasites - make sure its food grade.
