OT: Snakes & Dogs or Dogs & Snakes

Chicken snakes and most of the other nonvenomous snakes in the USA can get

purty big .. bigger than the biggest venomous snakes .. rattlesnakes. And

right you are that a person gotta defend their dawgs, cats, chickens,

guineas, geese, rabbits and anything else they got around the house from

critters that would eat them .. blow'em away I say .. ceptin' maybe for

hawks and certainly for eagles.

 

But .. there are more chicken killin', ag suckin', pig ham stringing .. and

human attacking dawgs out and about than there are snakes .. but still ..

most folks are scared of snakes and they ain't scared of dawgs. ;-)

Read a month or so ago that in Texas (where you are) an average of 11 folks

a year are killed by lightening, 6 folks a year by dawgs .. and 3 folks

a year by snakes. But still folks fear snakes more than they dawgs. ;-)

 

In the USA cars kill more folks in a year than snakes kill worldwide

.. 42,815 folks died in 2003 from traffic accidents.

 

Worldwide snakes kill around 50,000 folks a year .. but only 12-15 of those

folks are in the USA .. here in Tennessee we have had 4 deaths in 47 years

... since 1960.

Still .. most folks fear walking where there might be snakes .. but aren't

concerned about hitting the road in a motorized bomb shell. ;-)

 

Since dawgs kill more stock and such than do snakes .. and cars kill more

folks than do snakes .. its still puzzling why most folks fear snakes but

don't fear dawgs and cars. ;-)

 

So .. we can conclude (maybe) that fear of snakes for the reasons mentioned

so far are not rationale fears .. but maybe there are some other reasons why

folks fear snakes that might be rational .. maybe. ;-)
