Guest guest
Hey guys and gals. I have a friend who has a lot of cats. I mean a lot of cats. And one of them is spraying. We've got it boiled down to changes in habit, anxiety and territorial spraying. We had the changes of habit nipped and the anxiety nipped too. I was wondering if anyone knew if it would be okay to give the cat some Valerian tea. (a very tiny bit.) in it's water because he is a very anxious cat and is still nervous about being abandoned and part of it is that this cat was rescued and he is emotionally " scarred " from the experience. One day his humans were there, and then they weren't and he did not go ferral (which I find completely odd) because most cats that I've seen after being left like that are perfectly happy on their own. They're like Whoooo hooo.. No humans let's go partay.. This guy is super skittish. So anyone have any Ideas? Jennifer (I've had my share of cats and they usually let you know who's boss) this guy is not like that. The original point and click interface was a Smith & Wesson. Guest guest
We often see cat " happy pillows " stuffed with a blend of catnip and valerian. I don't know about dosage for internal use or use as a tea, but letting them have at the stuff and roll in and nip at it like catnip doesn't seem to hurt them at all. Guest guest
Best thing to do is neuter the cat, usually that stops spraying. If it is already neutered then one of the other cats is challenging its authority in the pecking order. Not much you can do to fix that other than make one of them an outside cat. Cats don't have the ability to filter herbs and oils out of their systems like dogs or humans do. You really should talk to an herbal animal specialist before any thing like that is tried.
