Guest guest
Well, I posted a reply yesterday to the answers people put up for me but for some reason it never showed up, not even in my junk box though my post looking for the wall chart did show up SO I'll try it all again. Thank you everyone for your answers. While I have been using essential oils for a little while now, about 23 years, I only started taking the health approach with them and really wondering and caring how they worked and what was in them a few years ago so as far as using essential oils for health I only have about 6 or 7 years under my belt and I consider that being a newbie. I had previously used essential oils to replace cleaning products and some hygiene products like deodorant in my house once I started my family. I didn't know what chemicals were in them, but I understood they were a lot better for my kids to be around than what was in the cleanser containers. A few years back I started looking into eo's for more than what I was using them for. I started selling herbs and the homemade items I was using in my home. Eventually the wonderful founder of the Boulder Healers Assoc., who I've known since before I was a teenager (a LONG time ago) sent me here and to Anatolian Treasures for bulk oils. And I tell you...things have taken off from there...I'm a voracious reader, a good study and LOVE researching things for myself! I'm even finding that math and chemistry might not be so terrible after all and am considering going back to school for them so I'll be a better aromatherapist. I asked the " Question " because I've recently started doing little health expos and shows in my area. The other day I was speaking to a passerby at a show about the controversy and the science behind the inhalation vs. absorption in the aromatherapy community. A YL person jumped in the conversation and basically tore me apart right there. I'm not really too confrontational, especially at a public function where I'm doing business, and not yet good at debate or public speaking so even though I feel like I know what I'm talking about I also feel like I came up on the short of that particular stick. This particular person, whoever they are, sounded confident, spouted off what sounded like sound, solid " research " . I've never been in a situation where rebuttal was served up like that so I was taken aback. This is also why I later asked if anybody knew where I could get a wall chart of the olfactory system. I'd like to hang a large wall chart in my booth for the future. I guess the question should have been more focused on the electrical impulse part: Say a we're sniffing Lavender oil. A terpene (either one of them)is inhaled. For simplicity sake we'll just say that the terpene is for relaxing here. The molecule makes its way through the olfactory system - starting from the nasal cavity, then with the help of the nasal conchae move to the olfactory epithelium, a specialized epithelial tissue on the roof of the nasal cavity. The receptor cells (cilia) in the epithelium transduce the scent molecules into electrical signals. Then these electrical signals travel along the olfactory nerve into the olfactory bulb. The electrical signal from this terpene will cause the nerves in the body to relax? I'm trying to be as direct as possible here. I have two left feet so dancing is unfortunately not one of strong points much to my hubby's disappointment ;-) Thanks for your replies. I hope you all have a great day. :-)
Guest guest
Hello " Kachinacherbs " I missed the original question and or answer but I do want to comment on your encounter at the health fair. Over the past twenty five years I have been involved in several businesses and a few of them have been network marketing companies. I am not condemning Network Marketing companies but there are some common traits in most of them. The most common trait is defending their way of doing business and any so called " research " that the company Home Office is preaching as gospel. I cant tell you how many time I have heard nothing but pure BS come out of a Network Marketer's mouth, especially new ones that have just signed up with a company and only know half or a quarter of a non-truth that was told to them by their upline that added a lot of his own BS to get the person to sing up...wow it really gets thick and heavy, good to have hip boots on when you talk to them. Most of the YL people I talk to, when I can talk to them, will have this look of total confusion on their faces and many of them come back to ask questions (especially the ones that are not financially bound to the company)and many and I mean many are coming to see the light that 1. Most of what they are told has no science behind it and 2. The fact that their oils are better then everyone else is the biggest LIE in the industry and I won't get into all the blends. Hey, let me give them or should I say GY some credit…great marketing but on the other hand does bad information make for great marketing? Shame, I think that he could have done just as well with sound teaching. Well that is about it, for now. Have a wonderful weekend. Guest guest
LOL and another thing was that this person was " blessed enough to be able to work with Gary Young personally " I found out later on when I was walking the aisles that they had a YL booth on the other side of the building so obviously they were fishing for clients by walking around. I do believe that for me everything happens for a reason and this incident only toughened my resolve - I'm going to sign up at the adult ed center in my neighborhood for a public speaking/debate class just in case it happens again. Thanks for the insight... oneSearch: Finally, mobile search that gives answers, not web links.
