Guest guest
Hey Kathleen. WHAT?!!! NO GARLIC!!! While Tanya is pouring over those seed catalogs, > tell > her to check out Varieties of Garlic... No Elephant Garlic, Large but > pretty > blah... there is a REALLY pungent and tasty red garlic, I believe it might > > be Korean... > Garlic is in the ground now .. it'll be one of the first things to sprout come Green Up. Got Radishes, Spinach, Turnips, Lettuce and Carrots in the ground now too but they'll come on afore Winter. Also, when you're learning to pickle... Pickled Peaches and Pickled > watermelon rind.... The peaches were always my favorite and mom hauled > them > out every year for the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays.... They didn't > > last long. > I love frozen peaches .. and got tired of Watermelon Rind preserves and such when I was growing up. ;-) One of my favorite times of the year would be around February when all > the > seeds started showing up and of course there would be freebies included... > got a free dogwood once. Was doing fine until the rotten dog decided it > was > his pee post. .Sigh< > I love dawgs but they can kill plants peeing on'em .. Scout doesn't do that ... being a lady and such. Her family .. errr .. the family she lives with some time now .. she has adopted us .. taught her to not to crap all over the place too. But .. a feller down the road has a little black and white male fiest that does both. Don't like that dawg .. he's sneaky. > Oh, and you mistyped, it's arsnic not cyanide.... makes no matter, it's > poison... Himself built the back deck and we NEVER let the kids out while > he > was sawing up the boards... I'm not happy having the left overs in the > side > porch area. > Yea .. arsenic .. wasn't a mistype .. I was not thinking. ;-) Might have our deck/patio redone this Fall .. got a feller coming Friday to look at resealing my asphalt driveway .. he does concrete work too. We have a patio inches off the ground .. supported by what I guess are 2 " X 4 " boards .. don't like it cause ants can live under it .. as well as snakes .. and its sagging in some places. Especially sagging where the dang Hot Tub is .. a Hot Tub is something I would never buy but its here so we're gonna use it this Winter. The outer edges of the wooden patio is fancy brick display .. some have displaced and I am not inclined to be spreading sand and replacing bricks and such. Knowing that aggregate patios can be colder and hotter than wood .. I still want to go with concrete .. we can spray the dang thing with water in Summer and wear boots in the Winter .. and concrete will last a long time .. wooden decks in this area have to be up off the ground .. mine isn't so it is not a good thing. Plus .. I like the look of aggregate. Sounds like you're having a ball... > That we are fer'shur. :-) Gonna take a day trip to Land Between the Lakes come early October .. cooler then .. its around 25 minutes drive from here. I haven't been there in maybe 25 years or so. http://www.lbl.org/Home.html .. Gotta lotta Elk and White Tail Deer, Spotted Deer, Red Wolves and Bison there. Also a lotta Bobcats, Coyotes, Foxes, Raccoons, Wild Turkeys and other critters .. some say that even the elusive Tennessee Wampus Cat can be seen from time to time and I believe them .. reason is, the other night (after dang near killing myself swinging that 20 lb grubbing hoe to plant Blackberry bushes) I was wore plumb out .. so I was sitting outside being buzzed by our resident Hummingbirds and drinking a bitta Gentleman Jack .. when all of a sudden this big ol' critter comes sashaying across the back lot. I knew it had to be a Tennessee Wampus Cat .. Tanya said I had sipped a bit too much Gentleman Jack .. told me it was really Scout. I didn't argue with her .. just went along with what she said .. but I am purty sure it was a Tennessee Wampus Cat. ;-) For them whut are inclined to learn more about this creature what is native to Tennessee .. go here .. http://www.americanfolklore.net/folktales/tn3.html http://ksks.essortment.com/wampuscat_rvmr.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wampus_cat http://johnnorrisbrown.com/paranormal-tn/wampus-cat/ As you can see there are all kinds of tales about Wampus Kittys .. folks just can't seem to get their stories straight. But unlike Gary Young, who got his teachings on Rain Drop Therapy from an old Indian Chief what never existed .. I got the straight poop from a Cherokee woman whut runs a barbecue place here .. she told me she done seen Wampus Kittys many times. Said most uv'em had 6 laigs .. 4 for running and 2 for holding onto you and fighting. Said they had fangs worsen a Tiger and had bright shining yallar eyes whut paralyzes folks when they look at'em. Said other kinds of hants didn't mess with Wampus Cats. I believe her fer'shur and am still convinced that wasn't Scout walking across that back lot .. and I'm gonna test this belief again tonight .. gonna sit outside and have a Gentleman Jack or two and see if'n that critter don't come back. > -- > Cheers! > Kathleen Petrides > The Woobey Queen > Http://www.woobeyworld.com <http://www.woobeyworld.com> > Yep .. and to y'all .. keep smiling. :-) Butch .. http://www.AV-AT.com
