Butch,

you know I love ya~ but being a nail tech I have to disagree ya about the dr

pres rx~ nail fungus is REALLY NASTY, but truthfully, the dr pres med's

can/usually may cause liver damage and you have to take them for about 6

months~and they're expensive~!

In my opinion you can treat fungus topically with tea tree and a carrier oil for

excellent results~ it's just a daily thing~ and most people don't/won't remember

daily~ it's an extra slow process~ I had a friend that had gotten nail fungus

from a nail shop and I treated it for almost a year with tea tree and lavender

e/o's mixed with a little jojoba and almond oils~ I also gave her a bottle to

use at home/school as she thought about it~ I'm happy to report it cleared up,

but it did take a really long time~ and might reoccur~ same as eczema~ treatable

and reoccurable~(not a word, lol) but you get the idea~ Also, when the dr's

prescribe the meds, they don't tell you but it's a 50/50 shot that it will

heal/cure the fungus~

You are right, trim the nail as much as possible~ file the thickness down as

much as possible, then treat~ it also doesn't hurt to soak in epsom salts before

treatment, it thins/lifts the nail so the e/os sink in better~ I put Becky's in

a dropper bottle and let her apply it under her nails as often as she

remembered~ and each time I did her nails we applied it~ also, it takes 6 weeks

for healthy nail to grow from under your skin to the exposed part of the nail

bed and harden, then another 6 weeks maybe more to grow from there~

yall's nail lesson of the day~lol~ My thoughts are what is a bad toe nail

compared to possible liver damage~ please be very careful with the dr pres

med's~they are extremely strong~ check all the side effects~ but I'm the type

person, I only use a presc if absolutely necessary~ I save them for emergencies~

Ingestion of EO ** Was: I guess Butch did not change his mind

Thankee ma'am .. but in fact, it did appear that I had recommended

ingestion .. I should have been more clear in my explanation. I was

assuming too much because I was thinking topical EO use vs internal

use of prescription meds. I believe that topical application of any

EO .. be it Oregano or Tea Tree .. against nail fungus is a temporary

cure .. at best. One could probably have good results in the nail

was completely removed and the oil could be applied to the tissue

under the nail. Nail fungus can get pretty bad and when that goes

down the prescribed medications are best .. they work and the cure is

generally permanent.
