Guest guest
Howdy Virginia, Hi Butch, > Interesting that in Australia, the Liberal Party is the right-wing > conservative > party. Therefore people here can be Liberal supporters, or small " l " > liberals - which means they probably never vote for the Liberal party. > I reckon that maybe terms like " Liberal " or " Progressive " .. and " Conservative " .. are sorta like " East " and " West " in that they are all relative to where one is at right now and whether they want to move forward or save the status quo .. or move to the East or West to get to the same location. ;-) A Liberal in Turkey is most likely to be a Nationalist whereas a Conservative is likely to be an Islamic. Here in Paris, Tennessee folks are Conservative as all get out but they are historically Democrats. Most of them will never vote for what Americans consider to be Liberal or Progressive candidates .. that still puzzles me. ;-) > We have a Federal election coming up shortly, and I will be glad when > it is over lol > We got one coming up too and most of us will be glad when its over. ;-) We have a fairly good handle on who will probably be the Democratic nominee and a fair handle on who will be the Republican nominee, but there is still a lotta time left for either party to screw up worse than they have already ... plus there are world events going down daily that can swing votes based on the proper or improper handling of them by the current administration. One such event is the scenario on the Northern Iraq border .. Turkish Armed Forces wanting to go in to deal with the Terrorist PKK .. but the most important recent event is one that some might easily overlook the importance of .. current events in Pakistan .. they are potentially more serious than some folks realize and they have the potential to have a great impact on the outcome of the US Presidential elections. > Virginia > West Aussie > Y'all have a good one .. and keep smiling. :-) Butch .. http://www.AV-AT.com Everything you wanted to know about the " movers " and " shakers " in US > politics .. courtesy of Telegraph.UK news online). I believe that you will > find this interesting .. or .. extremely boring. >
