Guest guest
Speaking of kids :-) I have been wanting to make a no tears essential oil blend for my 2 year olds bath. I always put a squirt of lavender essential oil and he does just fine. But I really do hate all of the chemicals listed on the " no tears " products. Anybody have any suggestions or do I need to consult my chemist father? Thanks in advance! Candace!
Guest guest
Candace, I'd suggest talking to your family chemist. He he he he. Maybe he can help us all out. I think part of it is that the pH of normal homemade soaps usually cannot be lower than 8 without dropping out of solution. However... You never know. I'll see what I can do I know a pharmacist that might know some tips. Guest guest
Hmmm...well it's always hard to get a hold of my extremely eccentric overly educated dad. I appreciate any suggestions any of you can provide. If someone (or I) could make a totally natural essential oil infused non chemical laden tear free shampoo or bubble bath solution, they deserve mucho dollars and I'll personally nominate them for the nobel prize! To the best of my knowledge, it can't be done using any form of true soap. All that I have been able to find are based on the use of VERY mild surfactants...some are botanically based, but NONE are what one would call natural. It's a tradeoff. sometimes, for what you want to achieve, all you can do is 'as natural as possible'... Guest guest
Thank you, Marge. :-) I figured as much but thought it was worth a shot asking it on this list! So " as natural as possible " will be my goal in shampoos and washes for my son! Take care, Candace On Behalf Of Marge Clark Friday, November 09, 2007 8:46 AM Re: " No tears " bath blend for kids? Many of those intimidating chemical names are not really that intimidating once you get a little chemistry under your belt. Personally, I steer clear of essential oils for children as they are very vulnerable to sensitization.
