Guest guest
Bush can't run again anyway and it matters not who gets into the White House next time because politicians are liars who eat crap and howl at the moon anyway How many changes have been made to our Constitution. Our Constitution has been our protection, and we see it be watered down, if not destroyed. We are in an illegal war, our own privacy has been infringed on, while we are told it is because of terrorists. We torture people. Be sure and read the links that Marcia has included. I know I am buying the Naomi Wolf book as soon as I can get to Borders. The things that are being spoken of, have been lurking around for several years. I am also surprised that anyone would say that someone who has already worked over our constitution , would think he could not run again, or for that matter just plain plant himself right theree. We may not be able to trust politicians but remember someone is going to be calling the shots and we had better take a long hard look at it all. I am not that enthused for my grand kids to live like what I see happening. I also can not imagine anyone not seeing what is happening, and in fact what has already happened. One thing For a christian country which is what we claim, I wonder how anyone got the idea Torture is approved by Jesus. I also think I read many years ago something about lies being Satanic, or that Satan is the great imposter and liar. I should look this up first but I will stand by this. One thing to get straight is do not pay attention to what is said, except to compare to what is done. sharon ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Guest guest
It is true we have had many a figurehead president, but we all can see that there can be a difference based on who is put where as far as appointments go. Not to mention the federal courts. I think it matters who is in the White house, because whoever it is, is put there by the people of this country. We have gotten crooks because we voted for crooks based on our personal fears and prejudices, and did not bother to educate ourselves. All those crooks at some point campaigned at the local level, that is where it starts. As long as the system remains, there is always hope that the general population will get off their collective butts and educate themselves as to who is pursuing office rather than swallowing sound bites from bully pulpits. >>>How many changes have been made to our Constitution. Our Constitution >>>>has been our protection, and we see it be watered down, if not >>>destroyed. It should set off an alarm whenever anyone suggests amending the Constitution, or when anyone tries to increase the power of the president. It is the one thing that will help our democracy survive the extreme partisanship that has developed. The constitution was written by folks that understood the misuse of power by kings and such, and the danger of power being consolidated into one group with the power to push their agenda on us all, our system was supposed to keep that from happening. In the Presidential election, we are choosing between figureheads that the various power groups think are " electable " . Frankly, I think we have gotten so concerned by minor scandals that we miss the big picture of who these people are. What's important? How long they wore their hair in college or how hard they had to work for an education? As for politicians private lives, it's nobody's business who they screw, as long as they don't screw us. I'm more interested in how they can get along in the world. Joanne
