Students of Anjuman Islam High School placed the earthen lamps following a design shaped as a crescent moon, the religious symbol for Muslims. Everyone participated in the inspirational attempt with full joy showcasing their respect for Diwali that is falling on Friday. " We have placed these Diyas in the form of a crescent moon, which is a religious symbol for Muslims. Our aim is to show solidarity between Hindus and Muslims we are like sisters and brothers, " said Khanajiwala Sana, a student. " Our endeavour is to inculcate a feeling of oneness and compassion among these children. We are teaching them communal unity. If we condition them to propagate communal harmony right from their childhood, they will spread the light of love in society, " said Ayub Diwan, the principal of the Anjuman Islam High School. " I hope these Diyas (earthen lamps) will lighten up the darkness that terrorism and communal hatred have spread in our country, " Ayub added. Guest guest
Dear David, Thanks so much for that news item! I just started a blog called The Pollyanna Pages for items exactly like this. I'll add this one. Since the mainstream media keeps operating on the principle that " If it bleeds it leads " it is up to all of us to spread good news stories.
