However, I was born at the end of WW2 in Europe , when diseases where rampant, and I had them all..the measles, the mumps, etc., diphtheria, that left me close to death and a permanent heart condition. People here do not remember what it is to have lived through true pandemics, such as the smallpox that wiped out native Indian Nations or the special wings of hospitals housing polio victims in iron lungs> We are the same age, and (almost) the same place. I remember measles, mumps, chickenpox and " rode hond " (red dog) AKA German measles as routine parts of childhood, though diphtheria was a scourge of the past. Oh, and whooping cough was not unusual. Kinkhoest. I'm pretty sure I had it. We did get inoculated against smallpox, and were regularly checked for TB. Polio was alive and dreaded. My mother was a nurse and a stickler for cleanliness. She used to regale us with horror stories of typhus if we dared wade in the delicious water puddles on the large vacant lot in the neighborhood. Apparently just getting dirty water over the top of rubber boots was enough to expose one to mortal danger. Weil's disease threatened anyone daring to swim in open fresh water. And so on. I am honestly not sure how much good the mass vaccinations of the past have done, or if all progress is due to improved hygiene. I do know that we have to be careful to not idealize the past. AND we have to guard against tyranny in any form. It doesn't get closer than the right to our own body. Guest guest
We are causing a new epidemic injecting our children with numerous toxins. What is better getting a usually mild (in these days) childhood disease that strengthens their immunity or the new epidemic of life long disabilities and even death from intentionally injecting our kids with neurotoxins?
