For the new folks .. this applies to you too. But if you write me please let me know that you are a seller .. if not then I will just have to write you back and ask. ;-) I can't allow end users to purchase the larger volumes of EO at Wholesale because if I did that .. my Wholesale customers (who are retailers ) would tar and feather me .. and they would be justified in doing so. You don't need to provide your tax ID or business license number, etc. That is between you and your state .. unless .. the order is to be shipped to an address in Maryland. Because we operate out of Maryland we would then have to record this information .. or charge the 5% MD sales tax. > > I hope I am not asking a question that has been answered a > million times. I didn't find it, so here goes. I just ordered products > on line to make lotions. I noticed a lot of recipes call for a > preservative. Why is it necessary to add a preservative if > essential oils have a antibacterial quality? > Because .. water is full of bugs .. and the volume (percentage) of MOST essential oils to be used in a lotion would be too small to be totally effective .. if that were not the case then the volume would be too high .. the lotion would be too strong as far as odor and safety goes. I know that different folks from time to time come on line and announce that this or that company has created a brand new, guaranteed to not rust, bust or collect dust .. ALL NATURAL .. preservative. I ain't buying that they have an all natural preservative that has been proven to be safe for dermal application. Until I am presented with credible information that proves that such a preservative exists .. I am going to continue to be convinced that all lotions, cremes, etc., that are safe .. are not all natural .. because they must have a synthetic preservative in them. A few of the posts I have written on this over the years are below: http://health./message/39633 http://health./message/39605 http://health./message/37660 http://health./message/37656 http://health./message/37651 http://health./message/27778 http://health./message/27769 http://health./message/21072 http://health./message/19321 http://health./message/15515 http://health./message/9904 http://health./message/2633 > > Does it keep the lotion from going rancid- therefore, a longer shelf life? > > Antioxidants are used to delay rancidity .. nopreservatives are used to inhibit (sometimes destroy) micro biological growth. > > Thank you for your help. > Janie > www.sacredartimages.com > Welcome you are fer'shur .. y'all have a good evening .. and keep smiling. :-) *Butch .. http://www.AV-AT.com ..
