Guest guest
HI Bonnie, I'm going to let you in on a dirty little industry secret about preservative free toiletries in general ... Many raw materials (botanical extracts especially) used in cosmetics and toiletries are preserved with preservatives (i.e. parabens, formaldehyde, etc ..). Cosmetics and toiletries that contain these preserved raw materials are not required to list the preservatives used to preserve the raw materials on the label. Only preservatives added by the manufacturer to the finished cosmetic product are required to be listed on the label. This means that many cosmetics and toiletries on the market actually do contain preservatives that are not listed on the label. Ask any cosmetic chemist and manufacturing lab and they'll tell you what I just have. If it has a water phase, or is going to have water introduced into it, it needs a preservative. The one item that is an exception to that rule is real liquid soap, which naturally has too high of a pH for most icky things to grow in, but if the manufacturer has reduced the pH (say, via the use of an acid), they need to add a preservative to it! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com , " Bonnie Kuhlman " <kuhlman wrote: > > I've pondered this for quite awhile. Guest guest
thanks chris, i'm going to see if i can get any info from mt. rose on the essential oils, since that seems to be the only possible source of preservatives. bonnie , " chrisziggy " <chrisziggy wrote: > > HI Bonnie, > > I'm going to let you in on a dirty little industry secret about > preservative free toiletries in general ... > > Many raw materials (botanical extracts especially) used in cosmetics > and toiletries are preserved with preservatives (i.e. parabens, > formaldehyde, etc ..). >
Guest guest
Bonnie, All products with a water base need a preservative. It is not the green mold that will kill you. It is the botulism that you can not see. I dislike commercial chemicals when it comes to what I put on my skin also. But there is a time and place for everything. Hugs, Jan S sweetprairie May your troubles be less, your blessings be more and nothing but happiness come through your door!
Guest guest
I doubt the EO's would have preservatives, but it could be the hydrosol, or the aloe vera. *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com , " flashnsaber " <kuhlman wrote: > > thanks chris, i'm going to see if i can get any info from mt. rose on > the essential oils, since that seems to be the only possible source of > preservatives. bonnie > > , " chrisziggy " <chrisziggy@> > wrote: > > > > HI Bonnie, > > > > I'm going to let you in on a dirty little industry secret about > > preservative free toiletries in general ... > > > > Many raw materials (botanical extracts especially) used in cosmetics > > and toiletries are preserved with preservatives (i.e. parabens, > > formaldehyde, etc ..). > > >

I know I would! don't you think that if there were one, the manufacturer would be trumpeting it from the heavens? because we would ALL be using it!!!
