Hey Dave .. Pam .. other good folks.

For Pam .. If you prefer, just post the Shawnee Mission Hospital letterhead

to the list in a manner we can review it .. like in the photo section or

whatever. If its information printed on a letterhead then its not

privileged commo.

For Dave ..

> anyone ever heard of the other 'pure' oils? Aura Cacia?

>

> [Dave]: Aura Cacia EOs are top-of-the-line. Where I work we sell Aura

> Cacia and Oshadhi EOs.

This is not a slam .. its an honest inquiry. Being as you normallly use EO

for making soap instead of Aromatherapy how do you know that Aura Cacia is

top of the line? Maybe they are .. maybe they are not .. I don't have any

experience with their products. They claim to perform GC/MS, which gives

you an Optical Rotation, Specific Gravity and Refractive Index factor ..

but will they give you a copy of that analysis? I will. Their prices are

mighty, mighty high also .. in the league with YL.

I also know nothing about Oshadhi .. but reading their site I see a good

deal of hype .. like: " Oshadhi selected Eco-Cert, the European certifying

body which supports the highest international standards, to oversee all of

its worldwide certifications and to monitor them all year long. These

guidelines allow Oshadhi to offer five classifications of essential oils:

• certified organic

• organic

• wild

• wild organic

• select

Pay just a tad of attention and the above will make absolutely no sense ..

but its not necessary that it make sense to the pros because its not written

for them anyway .. the pros won't pay their prices. Their prices are also

in line with YL .. for 3 ml of German Chamomile, Blue, (Chamomilla

matricaria) .. they got the name backwards .. they get $45.90 .. I and many

other folks get in the range of $10.99 for 3 ml .. $18.99 for 5 ml .. $32.99

for 10 ml and $54.99 for 20 ml of the same oil/same origin. The rest of

their prices track in that range.

$29.00 for 10 ml of Wild Grown Origanum vulgare (Turkish) is a bit higher

than the average of $7.99 for 10 ml of the SAME oil.

Same question applies on analysis tests.

Do you believe that because a company is large company with extremely high

prices and has a Spin Doctor writing their ads that they have top of the

line oils?

And again .. how to you determine what is top of the line?

Know ye that there are fewer professional distillers of a particular oil in

a particular country than many folks think .. and know ye that odds of most

of the sellers on this list offering oils that were produced by the same

distillers as Aura Cacia, Oshadhi and Young Living are a helluva lot higher

than many folks think.

Is my German Chamomile the best in the entire world? Though I've tested

many I can't I really know if I've not tested or sniffed ALL the German

Chamomiles in the world .. so I can make no such claims. When I

see statements like " is unsurpassed in therapeutic quality " I understand a

helluva lot more than do most users of EO.

But (for example) I will put my German Chamomile up against anyone else's

and bet money that it is just as good as theirs. I knows and trust the

grower/distiller .. even Martin Watt trusts the dude and that is saying a

lot. ;-)

Two major shortages exist in this industry .. Reality .. and .. Informed

Consumers! Most big companies with exhorbatant prices didn't get big

because they are the best .. they got big because they can spend the big

bucks and reach out to the uninformed types that P. T. Barnum once commented

on.

Y'all keep smiling. :-)

Hey, Butch,

Having worked at a Whole Foods in the Body Care department for a few years after

my

downsizing from the insurance industry, I have to agree with your last

paragraph. Our

store sold Aura Cacia, Oshadi and Simplers - I was new to aromatherapy (and

still am), but

just my nose told me that Aura Cacia wasn't top of the line - there was always

an edge to

their oils to my nose. Our rep for the other 2 were big on " training " - giving

us their

product knowledge, not specialized training in each of the oils, whether they

were their

oils or not. It was all about selling their product - and if you believed what

you were told,

you could repeat that " training info " to the customer - who then became an

" informed "

consumer.

Joining this group and Anya's group has made my head spin with the amount of

knowledge I have yet to gain and what people in both groups know - from their

own

experience, education. Their willingness to share their education is

astonishing to me in

its generosity - and without the need to " sell " any of their products. Their

love for

fragrance in its healing properties and its sensual properties comes through -

I, for one,

feel very fortunate and grateful to have found both lists.
