Guest guest
....on the 18th of this month. Doc is insisting I HAVE to stay overnight despite my not wanting to. Suggestions on oils to bring with me too keep all the nasties away? I'll have 3 incisions on my tummy area, they're doing that laparoscopic technique on me, the " band-aid " surgery so I don't see why I have to stay overnight but they're making me Grrrrrr... Guest guest
In my opinion, if I were going to be staying in the hospital... with an open wound... I would be tempted to do a sugar shot regime and I would start a few days BEFORE I went in. But that's just me! I don't WANT a staph infection or any other infectious crap roaming the halls. Oh! sugar shot. Big spoonful of sugar with a drop of Oregano in the middle of it. As for staying over night. Depends on what they're doing... If it's slightly complicated, they want to make sure they haven't left sponges, swabs, sissors or even a CAMERA inside ya! LOL! Nah, it's just to make sure that you're physical handling the surgery okay. And if a hospital is wanting you to stay over night in this day and age of " Kick em out " , there is prolly a good reason for it. Don't plan on resting... They don't want you to rest. They just want you to be available to poke and prod you every hour. Gives the Nurses something to do. ;-) good luck with the surgery, take a book, some patience and your music. Guest guest
This is a wise thing... It keeps them from getting sued for booting you out of the hospital too soon after any kind of invasive surgery... (it's minimally invasive, but it is invasive) and it gives them time to do the paperwork etc. That they have to do before you leave. (being a medical transcriptionist has learned me about this very thing.) I'm sure that most people would say Lavender is one of the big ones to take... I'd take peppermint just cause the smell of hospitals make me want to gag most of the time... WAY to sterile smelling... Then... I think some others would say one of the oreganos... but that's just what I think... (which can amount to a hill of refried beans sometimes...Good and fattening, but if you eat too much of it... It leaves you feeling really bad.) > > I'll have 3 incisions on my tummy area, they're doing that > laparoscopic technique on me, the " band-aid " surgery so I don't see > why I have to stay overnight but they're making me Grrrrrr... > > __._,_._ > . > > > ------ > > > > Version: 7.5.503 / Virus Database: 269.16.13/1170 - Release 12/4/2007 10:52 AM >
Guest guest
HI Kachina The other suggestions (oregano, lavender, peppermint) were all good ones. I'm assuming you are having general anesthesia and that right there is a good reason to stay overnight at the hospital. The 24 hours right after the surgery are the most dangerous for post-surgical complications related to anesthesia. You might also consider something for the nausea that some folks get after general. Peppermint is good for that according to Kurt Schnaubelt. And you could also take some candied ginger with you. (As an aside, when I had my hysterectomy, I did not have general anesthesia. I had an epidural and was awake for the entire surgery because I thought it would be " educational " and then no post-anesthesia worries. But I am very comfortable in the medical setting and most people are not. Also,I'm a kook.) Best wishes for a successful surgery and speedy recovery! Guest guest
I was going to ask for an epidural! I wonder if my surgeon would be cool with that? I'm going to call him first thing tomorrow to find out! Patricia West <tribalpatty wrote: HI Kachina The other suggestions (oregano, lavender, peppermint) were all good ones. Guest guest
Quite frankly, if you are getting general anesthetic you might want to stay in hospital. Just in case. Just remember that the bad germs don't stand a chance against good essential oils, and think positive! I had an article on it somewhere on my old blog, with an ad for Chris in it. OK, dug it up: Here is the part you most need to see. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/6471475.stm *Tests of new machine at a hospital have found it could be effective in the battle against the superbug MRSA.* Consultants at Wythenshawe Hospital found that using a vaporiser to spray essential oils into the atmosphere killed off micro-organisms. _________ And just for the H of it, here's what I wrote about Christine. One of my favorite is oils-herbs-etc. /join The list owner, Christine Ziegler, does a remarkable job. She takes no flaming or nonsense, but will tolerate off t opic discussions until they get out of hand. I love the way people of different persuasions exchange thoughts in an atmosphere of mutual respect and tolerance. Christine's website is http://alittleolfactory.com Anyway, Christine dug up this great story about oils beating superbugs in a test in England. She also mentioned that this is a lot more important to know about than the latest about Anna Nicole. So true! One could get deep into conspiracy theories about why " the Media " doesn't do more to spread this story. Or, we can just do our own bit to share the news. Here is my contribution. Pass it on please, and get some good oils from Christine! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/6471475.stm *Tests of new machine at a hospital have found it could be effective in the battle against the superbug MRSA.* Consultants at Wythenshawe Hospital found that using a vaporiser to spray essential oils into the atmosphere killed off micro-organisms.
