Guest guest
Hi Carol: Thought of a couple of things you might want to try to keep those critters/varmints out of the attic and such. Hope they help. Bitter Apple~supposedly most animals don't like it. It's what vets use with animals with or with collars to keep them away from ouchies. You should be able to find it in numerous places. Flowers of Sulfur: one of the best things for snakes, they won't cross a line of sylph sprinkled around an area. Perhaps other varmints don't care of it either. If nothing else, it will kill any mites that might have taken up residence. Old drug and grocery stores should have it, plus you can buy it by the pound on ebay and such. One last thing: Did not check it for ingredients, but Walmart has a bag of Snake Rid, could be called something else. Thought that was unique. Good size bag was around $14. Surely there is a Wally World nearby or someone has access to it in the Canadian North part of America. Since how they are now in China, is Wally World everywhere? tee hee You could always use some really strong eo's at openings to steer them away. Camphor should be one as it's a nice strong one. Perhaps the eo's and moth balls too? Note: Birds have no sense of smell, so they would not necessarily be offended, but might leave due to a burning of the eyes, etc. Speaking of birds with no sense of smell. We used to raise rare breeds of birds outside mostly, but brooded hundreds in the house at times. Bird~RX has essential oils in it. It is recommend to put under their wings where they rub their faces and float it in their water to avoid colds, sinus problems, etc. It is essentially the same eo's that are in Vick's Vapor rub. I do diffuse in the house with our teils. Heavily in the Wintertime. Mostly in another room, but room isn't closed off normally. Doesn't seem to bother them one bit. Sprays are used nearby with no ill effects. We only burn candles 2 times per year in addition to when the power is out. Christmas and New Years. My Mother always said it was good luck to burn a candle on one of them, but she could never remember which one. LOL So, we burn on both days for good luck. Gotta love those old wives tales! They used to sell fragrance pads that can be attached to furnace filters, so I would think it would not be a problem with eo's directly on the Filter. It is a long way from the furnace itself and used to recirculate air. We use a semi-permanent filter. Maybe at the vents themselves. Heavy food smells circulate thru the air in vents, why not eo's? Best of luck with the critters/varmints! Merry Christmas, deb Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search.
Guest guest
Deborah, thanks for the suggestions, I finally broke down and hired a professionals, he was here yesterday and inspected the eaves troughs and discovered that while one squirrel was trying to break in, there was another trying to break out ( we had trapped him in when we blocked off the entrance. He also discovered 4 other potential entrances and blocked them all. Where the squirrel was trying to break out, he installed a door, that would allow it to leave but not get back in. he is going to come back after the holidays to remove the door, replace the bent eaves trough and sterilize the attic. This is the first time in weeks that I haven't heard the squirrel, so I am hoping it found the door and has left. The good thing about hiring a professionals is that his work is guaranteed for a year, so I have that piece of mind. We do have Walmart here in Canada, but it lacks in its repellents, lol.. There are many rules that apply to our wildlife and hefty fines if they are not followed, I am just glad that it was not mating season, then the squirrels by law would have been protected and I would not have been able to do what i did until babies left the nest. I live next to a greenbelt, so this is my 4th year of animal issues, 3 years ago, it was posumes in the garage, two years ago, it was a family of raccoons, last year the raccoons ripped up part of my roof, and this year squirrels, I think I really need to look at what I am cooking, lol, see if I can figure out what is making my home so welcoming, It's not as though I am the only house on the street, I'm probably one in 300. Thank You again, I will move this email to the file section and label it , animal repellents. Merry Christmas to you too.
