Guest guest
Morning Bonnie, I use green clay (this is one of the Illite clays and the brand I use is Argelitz) any time I get an animal into care (I am a wildlife rescuer and rehabber). If it is a fruit eater I sprinkle about 1/4 to 1/8 teaspoon over their fruit. This ensures that the animal gets a boost of minerals to counter-act any leeching due to stress and some of the minerals are calming. This also assists in absorbing any toxins in the GIT due to injury or bacterial infection. I also use it if the animal has thrush or candida (works on humans as well). If it is a meat-eater I mix the clay into the meat mixture. With my cat, I'll put some clay into her water bowl periodically, just to boost her immune system. She's 18 so I feel any little bit helps. All open wounds get a poultice of green clay made up of clay, pure water (I don't use tap and I only use unopened bottles of water so that I know the water is pure) some macadamia oil for skin regeneration and caster oil to improve the drawing agent. I then cover the wound and bandage it. Best results are made if you are able to replace the poultice at least twice a day. If you know there is an injury or an inflammation, but the skin hasn't broken do the same poulticing. It works brilliantly. I'm not averse to using antibiotics, it's just that some animals are allergic to them, or they stuff up the gut flora. In humans I have successfully used it in healing leg ulcers - within 3 months - after the usually prescribed stuff didn't work after 2 years. I could have reduced the timeframe, but I could only visit the client once a day. I did add some of the Ayurvedic essential oils as well as Australian Sandalwood and Kunzia ambigua for pain relief. If I have a migraine that won't shift I put some clay along the occipital ridge, some on the temple and some on the flat part of the head. Looks ridiculous, but works a treat. I don't go out until I have had a hair wash. I also use it when my liver makes it known that I have overindulged in one or more things - wine, salami, fatty stuff. No gall bladder can be a bit of a handicap. 3 days of clay first thing in the morning and I bounce back to normal. If you want to research look up Argelitz, french clay, or illite. You will probably get a whole load of stuff. One advantage of clay is that it eliminates without a problem if ingested Your dogs will be very happy if you can fix them up without pain and you'll be happy with the savings.
