Hi Rhavda,

I've yet to see a study on power lines causing respiratory problems per se,

(I've seen references to studies, but somehow can't seem to find the studies

themselves) but according to *Ghost

Hunters*<http://www.scifi.com/ghosthunters/>(what a great reference

for a first post, eh?), power lines can cause

anxiety and paranoia. :D So you have a possible answer there for your

friend's upset. A secondary answer, if you accept Ghost Hunters as a

reputable source, is that anxiety can cause respiratory problems -- both in

the short term via panic attacks, and in the long term, via constant high

levels of stress increasing one's chances of developing asthma.

And since this is a first post for me to this group -- Hi, I'm a licensed

acupuncturist & chinese herbologist in New York City. I've become more

interested in essential oils used in the context of chinese medicine in the

last couple of years. This led me to both some fascinating classes on using

essential oils according to chinese medical theory, and to this .

:) Nice to meet everyone!

Karoline
