Guest guest
What a completely ignorant and upsetting thing for someone to say. Although there may be a link between power lines and decreased melatonin levels which may have a link to some cancers, it is completely erroneous to tell these people that they will get cancer. Perhaps their risk is very, very, very slightly increased. Truth of the matter is that probably 60% of all cancers are caused by lifestyle factors that we ourselves can control; smoking, obesity and diet. The best way to decrease all around risks of cancers is to 1) stop smoking, 2) keep weight under control and exercise regularly and most importantly 3) eat 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables each day - and these should be a variety including various colors (green, yellow, white, blue, red etc.) Many people don't realize that they can control a good deal of their risk for getting cancer - although again, we are only talking about risks, never absolutes. I've not heard of respiratory problems associated with power lines, but if you want a good sourcr of information about cancer and diet go to the American Institute of Cancer Research: http://www.aicr.org. Guest guest
Well. We can't control what others say, but we can be there for those that do their own research and help them through. Cause for all of us we really are all learning as we go... And we do have to understand that we do not have to believe everything we hear. It is our choice. It is also our choice to become upset over someone who may just be trying to help us out the best that they know how. Do research and find out is what I say. Heck if I took everything I was told to heart when I was growing up.. I'd have a wad of gum the size of the planet earth in my colon. cause it takes 22 years to digest. I'd be growing watermelon in my gut because I ate the seed and lord have mercy I would be on the list to buy ocean front property in Egypt. It is a wonderful world we have here and we might as well help each other while we can. And if you look at most of it... It's the fluctuation in hormones (ie. stress, that causes most of the disease.. that includes all of that food influences hormones, hormones influence how your body reacts, your thoughts also can do that, so if you treat your body as you would treat your favorite pet (unless you're a serial killer.) (you should be alright, and you will not get cancer just because someone says you will unless you believe it.) The past does not = the present does not = the future. Just cause my aunt got uterine cancer doesn't mean I have to. It means I might have a higher chance. MIGHT. but as my genetic soup is different than hers.. who knows. The only thing I can do is not worry about if or when or if it's not going to happen and live life to the fullest.. Even if the fullest is just walking to the mail box and raking the leaves. to think that I am exactly like someone else is a misnomer.. To think anyone is exactly like me is a misnomer. To think that we are similar in some respects is right on the money. Don't dream it be it.
