Hi all. I am the momma of two toddlers with another on the way. I want my

small family of 5 to start begin extremely healthy and nautral. The more I

have looked into it the past 2 weeks, it seems like everything in our life

is tainted! Holy Cow!!!! My husband and I decided that we are changing

everything...from the way we eat to whats toxic in our house. So pointers

and help with where to start would be great! Thanks so much!!!

Hello musiclover momma!

I'd start with the Environmental Working Groups website to learn what is

toxic and all the products that contains toxins in their BODY BURDEN study.

SKIN DEEP also tells about the toxins in personal care products (expecially

for women). www.ewg.org Wow!! I just went to their website. It's all new

and revised and MUCH more info available in 2008! You're gonna want to

bookmark that site and go back regularly!

Debra Lynn Dadd has published many books on toxic products and sustainable

living. And she has a GREAT website: http://dld123.com

Here's the books she's published and more may be available on her website.

She recently moved back to SF area from FL. I met her in SF many years ago

at a Whole Life Expo and she stayed at our booth to sign books for several

hours.

Home Safe Home

Nontoxic, Natural & Earthwise

The Nontoxic Home & Office

Those are my two BEST choices right now. Will add more later if anyone is

interested!

You might also want to check out this website for excellent pure, essential

oils. www.purestproducts.com

Toni's husband (died several years ago) wrote a book called WHAT TO DO WHEN

ANTIBIOTICS DON'T WORK. Excellent book to have on hand to keep your family

healthy all year - with NO drugs! It's become my " bible " .

Happy New Year! Wow that's a huge New Resolution and where to start is

simple...one day and one thing at a time!

Don't panic and get overwhelmed. So just start with food. The most natural is

cook yourself from scratch. With little ones, that may seem tougher than it is.

One dish dinners are easy and the crock pot is your for-ever-friend! Simple is

best and soups are easy with warm crusty bread.

Then just stick to things that are fragrance free for the laundry and cleaning

stuff. You'd be surprised how much can be cleaned around the house with just

vinegar, baking soda and borax. There are great books for natural cleaning. Of

course, you can fragrance your own creations with your choice of essential oils.

Hope that helps a little, if you have any specific areas of question..just let

us know.

Re www.purestproducts.com

I find it horrifying that after all these years, we still get people

coming onto this group promoting suppliers who do not care about their

customers health and safety.

Whoever runs the company above seems to have no idea on essential oils

safety. They sell cinnamon bark oil with no warnings of any kind as to

how dangerous it is. Instead, to promote its sales to the unwise,

they say: " French doctors prescribe Cinnamon Bark essential oil as a

potent remedy to fight infections " . See article on my site

" Aromatherapy - how to spot the cons " and scroll down to 'From the

course notes of a well known (in aromatherapy), French doctor:'

http://www.aromamedical.com

The use of Cinnamon bark oil in anything applied to the skin is crazy

and dangerous and this has been known for many years.

This site also make several unjustified medicinal claims which are

illegal in the USA.

As I have said many times on this group before, anyone can set up a

web site to sell oils, but beware of those whose claims lead one to

suspect that the owner does not know, or care, about serious product

safety issues.

People also need to be wary of formulas on sites such as

http://www.dld123.com/

I just noticed one on a link page that includes cinnamon oil and a

whole list of other oils, but makes the huge error of not giving the

volumes to be used. This particular one is supposed to be some old

formula from way back, but as pointed out on this group before, we

need to be very careful on the safety aspects of some of these Ancient

formulas as nowadays many of the ingredients are banned in cosmetics

and perfumes as too dangerous to use. We see this problem over and

over again in America where so many pick these old formulas up, make

them and sell them without a second thought and often with absolutely

no training in what they are doing.
