Guest guest
Hi all: Someone had written that Spiders did not like Peppermint and Lemon. Which brought me to Lemon Verbena. Folks argue a bit about the proper name, so I'll just call it by it's common name. Just wanted to mention why I thought it would be a natural to combat those creepy crawlies.... There are always spiders in my organic gardens, they are everywhere. Everything from Wood spiders hiding under the edges of my oldest garden so they can procreate to the tiniest ones. Anything big enough will set off the oils of the Lemon Verbena leaves. All spiders stay away from them, except for a tiny tiny white one that is too small to set off the release of oils. The only time I see those is later in the year when I'm getting ready to harvest the leaves. Due to a week long late hard freeze here in TN during April last year, followed up by some miserable drought conditions, my Verbenas bloomed very late in the year along with other herbs. Some did not bloom at all. Hmmmmm Speaking of stirring your senses. The release of oils from the Lemon Verbena is truly a gift from the Heavens! Should you live in a temperate climate, I highly recommend having a plant or two or three. Chris, perhaps it can be our herb of the month...Hint Hint. Know it's too hard to do one a week, perhaps one per month would suffice? Personally, I'm still looking for a wonderful Steam Distilled Lemon rather than an expressed one. Anyone heard of any US companies doing this yet? There's something so uplifting about the smell of Lemon in an oil that makes the most dark cloudy day seem sunny! Lemon Verbena has that scent that uplifts your senses to a happy~smiling good day! That's about as poetic as I get. LOL Here's the best New Year's Cheer that I've never forgotten. Be sure you read it properly so that it doesn't get your goat: May your happiest day of your past, be your saddest day of your future! Cheers! A most Happy year to you, deb Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search.
