Guest guest
Yes,those errors all hail from the early writers who did not know the difference between the Pelagonium oils and Herb Robert. These astringent actions are characteristics of Herb Robert herbal extract. These errors are repeated adinfintum in aromatherapy books and this junk is still taught on courses run by " recognised " aromatherapy associations. It is for reasons like this that the new regulation organisation in the UK is a sick joke. They will be valdating therapists taught such bs on numerous AT and doubtless other courses. Guest guest
i would love some clarification as to what rose geranium eo is. On another list I read someone say that there is no such thing as eo distilled from the rose geranium and that this is actually a blend. I buy what is labeled rose geranium eo and make a nice soap with it, but would like to know what I am using. Any input? And what I have read about rose geranium is that it is good for menopausal women and their hormones.?? Guest guest
Over the decades I'd amassed a large collection of scented geraniums (50+), including several vareties of rose scented geraniums. They are native to Africa. Pelargonium graveolens is the one most likely to be distilled. I have a bottle of the e.o. on hand. I am very fond of this essential oil. Hope this helps, mjh Posted by: " Cindy Jones " _cindyjones1 _ (cindyjones1?Subject= Re:%20web%20site%20claims-geranium) _cindyjones1 _ (http://profiles./cindyjones1) Wed Jan 9, 2008 9:50 am (PST) i would love some clarification as to what rose geranium eo is. I have 2 that are still doing well since the frost out here in the desert. I have an Attar Rose Geranium and Rose Geranium. The Attar is by far " smellier " (or more fragrant) than the other. Has a different leaf structure - many more of them - and rather in a fig leaf pattern, but tight. The Rose Geranium has small leaves and blooms pink. The flowers, however, are not fragranced. I have a glass distiller that I have not used as of yet. Too many other things going on to set that up on the dining room table!! I do plan on distilling the Attar Rose Geranium, though, to not only save the essential oil, but also attain some Rose Hydrosol. These plants are quite hardy even out here in our " clay " soil. I add " good soil " quite frequently and " turn " the dirt regularly. I know there are a lot of claims out there, but I grow the fragrant Geraniums simply because I like them. I have taken several of the Attar Rose leaves, torn them, and added them to my powder base; shake the base every day for 2 weeks, and I have a " natural " fragranced body powder. And because I don't use pesticides, I even can say that it's organically grown - just not certified. I also grow Calendula and use the petals!! Guest guest
I am wondering though when you buy rose geranium essential oil what is it?? Is it directly distilled from a rose geranium? And what is the difference between Pelargonium oseum and Pelagonium roseum (or even others) - do they have different qualities? Cindy Jones > > > I grow Rose Geraniums, Cindy. Guest guest
Various rose scented geraniums can be distilled. How would/could it be indirectly distilled, do you suppose? The rose geranium essential oil I have right now is P. graveolens. Read the label of a rose scented geranium essential oil to find out its genus and species. Hope this helps mjh Posted by: " Cindy Jones " _cindyjones1 _ (cindyjones1?Subject= Re:%20web%20site%20claims-geranium) _cindyjones1 _ (http://profiles./cindyjones1) Fri Jan 11, 2008 6:58 am (PST) I am wondering though when you buy rose geranium essential oil what is it?? Guest guest
The other one is Rober's lemon rose scented geranium. I have three topiaries of it in my bay window. Four+ feet tall. mjh The Attar is by far " smellier " (or more > fragrant) than the other.
