Guest guest
Hi Everyone My name is Jessie Ring and I am distilling essential oils here in portland Oregon. Currently I am distilling oil from the Largest Sitka Spruce in North America. She fell down in that last whopper of a storm that hit the coast in November. From collection, through distillation, the experience of working with this " Queen Sitka " has been very meaningful and rich. I discovered essential oils about ten years ago whne I started using them for massage, and general purpose medicine. Now I find myself seedind and planting the fallow family farm with many varieties of lavender, rosemary, mint, spearmint, clary sage, cottonwood, thyme, quince and many others. I also wildcraft native plants for distillation such as Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, Noble Fir, Western Hemlock, Birch, and Juniper. I am mixing and designing a line of body products based on these local oils, and I hope to have the skill, in a few years, to unveil some very Oregon-based perfumes. I have found that learning about fragrance has tied my life together in a pattern that I love - my niche exists in my upstairs laboratory where I mix tinctures and oils, resins and leaves - perpetually surprised to find that it is 2:00am as I climb down the stairs towards dreams that now come with smells.... Cheers Everyone! So glad to be a part of this forum. Jess Ring
