Guest guest
I just posted this on an AT group, and realized it would be helpful here. Since dry winter air can really cause respiratory problems, I posted the info of my experience with the desktop size mister from qvc. The first item i posted is a regular EO or perfume diffuser that works really well (but does not contain water). No commercial affiliation, etc., just wanted to help protect your sensitive nasal passages in this arid time of year. The spa scenter is good, and I got mine, shipping included for $33.60 by using the coupon code sample10 at checkout from http://www.anandaapothecary.com/aromatherapy-diffusers-burners.html If you like a water fog machine with an optional six-color light display I love the Desktop mister I got from qvc. My mother has been very ill, and I got this a month ago to help her sleep better, since the dry winter air was causing her congestion and nose bleeds. Reviews on qvc are bad, but that's because it's tricky to get the water level right. Too much in the little unit, and it won't work. Mine works perfectly, and you can add EOs to it. It's brightened my mother's room, she loves the changing colors from the LED and the " fog " -- very dramatic, and fun. It would be a conversation piece in a store. On qvc, some say theirs only runs for an hour or two. The one I have runs for six or more. Like I said, it's a bit tricky, and those who say theirs didn't work didn't read the directions, which tell you the level of water needed. Very affordable too, but be warned you have to use distilled water http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.tpl.csweb.cm_scid.cs\ wb.item.V24794 Under $30 inc. shipping. -- Sincerely, Anya - perfumes, aromatics, classes, consultation Natural Perfumers Guild http://NaturalPerfumersGuild.com 1400 member Natural Perfumery group -
Guest guest
Hi Anya, I tested the fog machine that you recommend from qvc over a period and found it to have a lot of technical problems and decided not to import it. While it is a novelty, it's not going to give you great versatility in terms of aromatic delivery options and hold up over the long haul. I import the Ultrasonic model pictured here http://www.wingedseed.com/diffusers/Ultrasonic_Arom_Atomizer_2006.htm which I think is a far better quality with a lot more timed settings and intensity control. We also repair any sold to our customers (and their customers) that fail after the end of the warranty period for a small service charge. We are selling a lot of these to hospitals, long term care facilities, spas, clinics, dentists and unique shops in our industry for retail who follow a more 'green' philosophy than qvc. We wholesale this unit in lots of 12; no wholesale information on our website, but if you're interested, contact me. Several vendors (including us) in online discussion groups also carry the SpaCenter; I know Marge does. Just wanted to make sure that folks here don't forget to look to the excellent vendors here who continue to contribute to the discussion in the online aromatic community as well as provide products/service. There is no way we can compete with the likes of qvc or other big box corporations and I guess we need to toot our own horns louder in our own community, especially when other list members recommend items that we might carry. It's Friday, not Thursday, however, I hope the listmoms will allow this to offer alternatives to Anya's recommendations, which look like a form of advertising to me. Thanks. Guest guest
Hello there, I just wanted to mention that i was gifted a LED lit fogging fountain from my husband for Christmas, its a larger bowl on a stand that has a small disc on top that the water collects on and drips of for a nice water sound.Anyways...I have no problems with mine,I fill the water level up to where the bowl starts to level out.I have to refill it a bit more often as i catch my kitty dipping her paw into it when its running, fetching a sip.lol.Tonight i dropped several drops of peppermint oil into it and my house smells fabulous(and im hoping my kitties breath will too)!!! I recommend it definately as not only is the lights and sound relaxing but the added moisture in the air has really helped break up some chest congestion i have been having..I am not using distilled water as of now as i hadn't gotten to the store to buy a jug yet but it seems to be working like a charm non the less.Just thought i would add my two pennies;) Nan aka Flor De Luna Never miss a thing. Guest guest
I have 3 cats and although I don't like water dispensation of oils (nebulizer or aromastone for me only) I once did use an aromalamp. I always made sure that one of my cats, AKA Water Bandit, never drank from it. My cat got her name as her fervor for water (other than what is in her own water bowl) made it impossible for me to drink water out of a glass because she is dunking her paw or sticking her had in it in a blink of the eye. I also have big trouble keeping fresh flowers as the vases invariably are knocked over as she tries to steal the water. But seriously, animals should not ingest oils. It could kill them! Especially cats. Please be careful and keep it out of their reach. Even if they don't immediately keel over and die, it can lead to organ failure down the line. Guest guest
Hi Nan There have been several posts on this group about the dangers of using essential oils around cats. Especially if your cat is going to drink the stuff. Perhaps others on the group more knowledgable than me will post some advice, but I did want to advise that you cease and desist until you have some more information. Guest guest
Well thank you for bringing that up Patty but i have also seen the posts(and also have enough common sense) and im not about to poison my precious kitties;) I moved the stand where she cant use the chair or any surface to stand on to get her a sip.The cat in question did get up there to check it out when i first put the oil in there but she winced and walked away wanting nothing to do with it.She obviously didn't find it as enticing as she once did.
