Guest guest
Hi there, I was wondering if any one on here could offer me some insight on my Aloes I have several aloes growing for a few years, looking extremely healthy and having babies like mad(all these plants have been born from a house Aloe I had for 8 years.Thing is,i haven't used the juice much.It has a very pungent smell, strong and not preticularly pleasant in my opinion. What has your sniffer thought of raw Aloe??I was wondering if that is normal? If it is perhaps the type of Aloe or if theres anything i can do to make it a bit more pleasant. Thanks much in advance!! Nan
Guest guest
I adore aloes. Yes that is normal. When someone in our home has a burn or cut, I go directly to our aloe plant. It is amazing plant and here in the Arizona Desert it grows wild. They are wonderful and beautiful when they bloom. Some people from other places watches the deserts weather and waters them when it does rain here. We get on the average ony about five inches of rain per year. Aloe plants do give us much. If you have it in lotion, put it in the fridge and use it on a sunburn, it really does comfort the sun burns. I remember using it as a kid when i played too long in the sun. The coldness of it when put in the fridge feels heavenly. Cath K Believe with an Open Heart and Mind --Cathy L. Guest guest
Im not sure if that's normal for your aloe plant but all the one's I've grown (and my parents ) don't really smell like anything. Just like water doesn't smell like anything. Maybe you have a special type or it has a disease? I'm not sure- maybe someone else has smelled what you are smelling? Good luck! , " da_naughty_lil_kitten " <luminousmoonflower wrote: > > >i haven't used the juice much.It > has a very pungent smell, strong and not preticularly pleasant in my > opinion. What has your sniffer thought of raw Aloe??I was wondering if > that is normal? Guest guest
There are lots of varieties of aloe. I live in Hawaii and recently went on the National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG) tour in Lawai. Our guide told us that the aloe with the most healing properties smells like chicken soup! He then broke off a piece and passed it around. Sure enough, it smelled just like chicken soup. it was amazing! hope this helps, aloha, paula rudinoff kauai

Guest guest
At certain times of the year, under some stress conditions, yes, aloe vera does take on a very funky scent. Repulsive, even.
