Guest guest
Hey Dede!! I was wondering if anyone would notice that in my intro email...yes, that would be me..anyone on this list who was on the old IDMA list will remember that NAHA asked us ( me and coauthor Kristen Barber) to research and write a position statement proposal after numerous inquiries to NAHA asking their position on RDT.. in the end, NAHA did not use our position statement, nor did they acknowledge the work or support or acknowledge the authors..... It proved to be too political....and the paper, which took about 6 months to research and put together, morphed into the " RDT White paper " and found its way onto may respectable aromatherapy websites, promoting the SAFE use of essential oils....; I know the document has been a handy reference for many people trying to educate the masses on safety issues regarding dermal application of oils.....several years later, the new leader of NAHA contacted me and asked permission to use the document for an official NAHA position...now you can find th e document on the NAHA website....There was alot more to it, but the important part is that the document is available for all to use and refer to- I've always placed aromatherapy safety as a priority- I still notice RDT tx being done everywhere- for a while I gave up trying to speak up- it felt like a losing battle- RDT's-they're everywhere....but I keep fighting the good fight- promoting safe use of oils...one person at a time.... I hope this email doesn't open any old cans of worms regarding this subject.....it's good to be back with like minded aromatherapy folk.... I sent that info to a friend of mine a couple of year ago that had been impressed with their oils. I don't know whether or not it made any impression on her, but at least it tried to educate her. Guest guest
Being a pyramid scheme and all is part of why it continues " to live " . I've smelled some of their stuff, and it's OK, but never as good as what I can rustle up on my own. And regarding the RDT, things like that often attract " true believers " . If life were only as simple as the RDT makes it out to be! Guest guest
Hey Janice, long time no see!! Hi to you, too, Bead Hussy (indeed!!) :-) Thought I'd share with folks the edit job on the white paper. Here's Naha's version - http://www.naha.org/rdt_statement.htm And here is the original, unedited and still on my website, Jance. http://wingedseed.com/RDT/RDTFinalDraft%2012-14-01.htm Clearly anyone interested in your thorough examination and professional assessment will not get it from NAHA. You can link to a short introduction from our homepage, read the html version linked above, or get a pdf printable copy. Guest guest
HI Marcia! Nice to " see: you again...It's great to be back and catching up with everyone....(I'm planning a class in the spring and I'll be in touch with several of you suppliers to restock my class oil supplies!!) Regarding the RDT white paper, if you go the NAHA webite, and click on " Aromatherapy Safety " then go to " Articles, Research Papers & Documents " , you will find the unedited document listed there under " White Paper on Raindrop Therapy " .... like I said, the entire document finally appeared on the NAHA web site, years after the whole fiasco quieted down, when Jade's leadership ended. Better late than never...alot of damage was already done though....I am no longer a NAHA member and I've been away from the list for a couple of years, so I don't know what 's going on with NAHA... are there many members on this list...any opinions regarding NAHA these days? Is it worth the fee to join? Janice -------------- Original message -------------- " Marcia Elston " <samara Hey Janice, long time no see!! Guest guest
Hi Janice, Ahhh . . . Now I find it. I would suggest you check out AIA (Alliance of International Aromatherapists) formerly Aromatics in Action based in Colorado. http://www.alliance-aromatherapists.org/index.htm You will know some of the people there; I think they look more promising than NAHA at the moment. Spend some time on the NAHA website; you will see that the website hasn't been updated in quite some time. They are still in violation of their own bylaws, promised benefits of membership, have a very ineffective president and board, and have refused to respond to a petition for redress of disgruntled members back in 2004. http://www.petitiononline.com/naha3666/petition.html Don't remember if you participated in that effort and it may be old news to you. Although AIA supports NAHA by linking to them (and there appears to be no reciprocal link from NAHA) and I believe this affects their emerging credibility because of NAHA's overall reputation, I would recommend you at least check AIA out. They seem to have more energy and are primarily directed at integrative aromatherapy.
