Guest guest
Hi Bonnie I have a wonderful Natural Pet Health book written in Australia by Pat Coleby. The writer recommends Vitamin A being essential for eye and adrenal gland health and helping with resistence to general infections. She suggests filling a 10ml syringe with cod liver oil - one drop in each eye and the rest down the throat! The dose can be repeated the next day. Also recommended a supplement of Vitamin C (non acidic) and that the animal has access to kelp (eye health apparently depends largely on zinc as well at Vitamin A and C). You will need to make sure that you get the Cod Liver Oil from a reliable source where it has been stored out of light and in cool conditions - it is not a very stable oil. Pat also suggests offering some cod liver oil in a dish - she believes that the animals will spurn it if they do not need it. I hope it is OK for me to quote this book - I refer to it constantly and have never had anything but success so far for my three dogs. I strongly suspect you are dealing with all the usual problems of inbreeding (ask me how I would think that!) but I don't think CLO is going to jeopardise the situation in any way. Let us know what happens Jan
