Chris, I am, as you might remember, way into

sustainable agriculture and related issues. This came

in today's mail and I thought I might post it to the

list, but since I seemed to be unable to properly

judge the extent of posting on the list before, I

thought I would seek prior approval.

Will You Be Chipped?

According to manufacturer VeriChip Corporation, there

are currently 2,000 humans worldwide bearing implanted

RFIDs (Radio Frequency Identification Devices) as well

as " millions " of domestic pets. The company sees a

potential market of 45 million Americans for their

medical monitoring chips, which were approved by the

FDA in 2005 and endorsed by the American Medical

Association. The approved device is a glass-encased

electronic capsule the size of two rice grains

implanted with a syringe into and anesthetized portion

of the upper arm. A scanner then provides access via

the Internet to the patent's medical record, which is

maintained by VeriChip for an annual fee. The company

is spending millions to assemble a national network of

hospitals so equipped.

Neither the company nor the government nor the AMA

seems to be award of, or give credibility to, numerous

studies from all over the world that link these

implants to induced tumors in lab nice and rats. The

risk ranges from 1 percent to 4 percent to 10 percent,

and each case has proved to be caused directly by the

implant.

Former Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson was filling

the cabinet seat at Health and Human Services, which

oversees the FDA, at the time of the FDA's approval.

Two weeks after the approval took effect, Thompson

resigned his post, and five months later he was on the

board of directors at both VeriChip and its parent

company, Applied Digital Solutions, both of Delray

Beach, Florida. In a television interview, he

explained the benefits and ease of being chipped and

assured his listeners that he had no qualms about

being chipped himself. So far he has not done so.

Yikes.

Never mind the tumor risk, what about the

invasion of privacy? Talk about the potential

for the ultimate police state!

This makes the dire warnings from my conspiracy-

minded friend sound not so crazy anymore.

Remember, the fact you're paranoid doesn't mean

they're not out to get you.

Needless to say, if this is true, the first applications

will be for something benign. Like lost pets.

Soon to be expanded to wandering Alzheimer's patients

and next we'll be under pressure to chip our newborns.

Soon to be followed by the cashless society " No chip,

no credit. Mark of the beast?

Sadly, this will at some point be a requirement of the Universal Health

care being promoted by those candidates beholding to pharmaceutical

companies.

No chip,no health care.

There is always free cheese in a mouse trap.
