used Mastercook in the past -this still a good one?? Anyone have any other

preferences?

This software is for diet planning but has a good

recipe module inside it.

I have had good luck with the software and the

support. BTW the company is a Canadian company so it

has metric measurements and Canadian food content

info, but also American measurements and USDA food

content info. The database is customizable. Good

luck.

I absolutely love MasterCook, and even use it for craft recipes,

storing misc, info, etc.

Try the latest version....9, I think. I have 8 and there were some

major changes by that one. The best thing about the software is the

import assistant, IMHO.

Cheers,

Christina

Here's a review site that shows MasterCook and other

software packages, ranking MasterCook at #2 (silver)

http://cookbook-recipe-software-review.toptenreviews.com/

Amazon has MasterCook, and user the reviews are

decidedly more mixed:

Version 8.0

bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8 & s=software & qid=1202090544 & sr=8-2

Version 9.0

Note that Kdiet, which I recommended is considerably

more expensive at something like $75, it sounds more

powerful because of the diet and nutrition part of the

software, plus the multi user records aspect (so if

you have patients or family members to keep separately

Kdiet can do it) but these dedicated cookbook programs

sound like they do a few more things that might be

handy if you don't care about the diet and nutritional

analysis or tracking part. I don't think Kdiet prints

a cookbook per se, you can print the recipes and put

them in a 3 ring binder, but if formatting for a

personal printed cookbook is important, I doubt it

does that. Plus you cannot import from the internet

or text files, I don't think. I think you would have

to enter the recipes, but you might discuss it with

the Kdiet tech support folks. Good luck again. KD

Thanks to all for the great info/reviews & the review site - it is very much

appreciated. I will definitely be checking out all of the " leads " that has

been sent. There has been a newly diagnosed diabetic in our household & the

lifestyle has got to change. So much easier said than done for all involved.

I apologize for not responding sooner, didn't even realize so much time

has gone by since I asked. Dear, sweet life does have a way of changing our

plans.
