Guest guest
Hi Shelley, You wrote: Could anyone share any info about detox diets, to loose weight and to get a better feel for myself after going on a junk food binge. Thanks Shelly Shelley, can you tell us a bit more about yourself? How long was the binge? What caused it? Was it just an over-the holidays thing, did you just get your heart broken, or have you been living on Kraft Dinner and Twinkies for years? If this has been long-term thing, are you ready to change your way of life, even if it takes a while? A quick dramatic detox will do you less good than a slow-but-steady change of life. I totally agree with Patricia West's wise words. The way to detox always starts with a few simple things: Drink enough water, ideally at least 2 liters daily, with a tiny amount of a good seasalt added. Walk for at least 20 minutes a day. We are not talking marathons here, just enough to get your lymphatic system in gear. Do some fiber! There are many ready-to-go formulas and some are better than others. If money is a big issue, just plain psyllium is dirt cheap in any health food store and makes a good start. Get some good bacteria into your body. Plain yogurt, the kind that will make more if mixed with warm milk, is a good start. Do something nice for your liver. Dandelion is a wonderful liver herb. It is available and cheap. (I like that) Eat good, whole foods that agree with you, in moderation. I know, easier said than done. Did you know that malnutrition can be a cause of overweight? Your body just knows that it has not yet received the nutrients it needs, so it keeps signalling you to take one more bite, maybe the missing minerals will be in that one! Adding small amounts of concentrated whole food in supplement form can make a big difference. If you go crazy with a sweet craving, reach for Stevia and Cinnamon. Both herbs have a sweet taste and are actually helpful for blood sugar management. Stay away from aspartame, it is poison. It may hide under brand names like Equal, Nutrasweet, and others. Guest guest
thank you for your advice, this is very helpful and a little more about me: 31 years old, I quit smoking 2 weeks ago, eat pretty healthy but crave sugar sugar sugar. I workout a few times a week. We eat almost all organic food, I love veggies and rice. I drink one pop a week, one coffee a day, and the rest is water. With the holidays and everything I feel like the sugar craving is 10 times what it used to be. I want it out of my life. Also we would like to have a baby and need to change things up a little. I love advice very new to the site so I don't even know how to use oils or herbs yet. All advice is great.
