Guest guest
Hi there everyone. I'm new to the group, my name is Aline, and I'm writing to ask for some help regarding my baby (7 month old Marceline, she's such a doll!). In November she started to break out with a rash on her neck. Around New Year it got really bad, flaring up around her mouth and neck area. It's eczema, and I refuse to take her to an allopathic doctor because they say that there is no cure, and then give steroid or cortison creams. We've tried various homeopathic remedies...but I don't want to over due it in her little body. So, I'm hoping that one of you wise people could help me out...what will help her, especially with the itch. It breaks my heart to hear her cry at night from the frustration of being woken up by the itch! I've also tried clendula cream just to prevent infection...but I'm running out of options. I am a firm believer in everything natural...I'm still new to the oil aspect of healing, but I believe in it, so I'm hoping that one of you will have some info that could help her. This past week it's gotten pretty bad, even on her hands. I'm planning on taking her to an accupuncturist (who only does accupressure with infants), but I'm wanting to take this on from every angle. Unfortunatly my litle angel inherited the eczema from me...I too had it as a child well until my teen years, but I unfortunatly suppressed it with prescription creams...I finally got healed through homeopathy, but now, she has it, and I'm stuck. So, any suggestions? Thank you for your help in advance!!! Sincerely, Aline
Guest guest
My son had eczema as well, until I stopped eating the things he was allergic to! I was breastfeeding and when he was 9 months old we found out he had multiple food allergies, and of course I was unknowingly eating all of those things, the poor kid. So I would say look to your diet if you are breastfeeding, if not then think about her formula or perhaps solid foods you have introduced if she is eating them yet. Hope that helps! Guest guest
Hi Aline, First off, welcome to the group! You've come to a very good list. Do you make your own salves/creams? I have a few suggestions for you if you do. I've had some very good luck with some of the balms/creams that I've made/make for baby eczema. My great nephew pretty much has completely stopped the itching and it has cleared up. Wishing you the best, Margaret -- Margaret Helm-Duell Mohea Natural Beauty LLC -------------- Original message -------------- " Aline " <adoignon Hi there everyone. Guest guest
Thanks Debbie, I'm taking that into consideration...the more I analyze what I eat, I'm thinking it might be wheat and/or yeast. I've only introduced very few solids to her diet, at this point it's almost all breast milk, and the rash began before she started on solids. I'm going to make a list of the foods I eat, although it's kinda hard when it's been so long and it never really clears up. Thanks for the help thought, I appreciate it!! -Aline , Debra McDuffee <deb wrote: > > My son had eczema as well, until I stopped eating the things he was > allergic to! Guest guest
Eggs are a culprit of producing excema. If you're eating eggs, and breast feeding, that could be it. Guest guest
But eggs will only cause eczema if there is an allergy or intolerance involved. Wheat and dairy are 2 other frequent culprits. edgetexlady wrote: > Eggs are a culprit of producing excema. Guest guest
Did I pass on Dr. Pagano's book yet? The title is about psoriasis, but it is about eczema as well. http://psoriasis-healing.com Ien in the Kootenays http://freegreenliving.com (blog)
Guest guest
Aline, Making your own is not that hard, but right now it is winter and the herbs are under the snow. My friend Magda makes a wonderful healing salve that is based on fresh-picked organic plantain, chickweed and other herbs, so safe you could put it on your bread and eat it. We use it as lip balm. It has helped a lot of babies with eczema. Maggie is on a new homestead off grid, and only accesses her computer once in a while for now. Meanwhile I have one jar left, so if you want it, let me know, it might be faster. I keep some handy for Reflexology clients, it is great for cracked heals too. No, I do not get a commission on this one. Guest guest
have you tried putting breast milk on the rash? it has amazing healing properties, and it great for cuts and scratches and rashes. I used to put it on fever blister to speed the healing. sure wish I could have a bottle in the cupboard JenB
Guest guest
Hi Aline, A simple balm is a great way to start. I would suggest shea butter, organic virgin (50-75%). Any organic oil such as sunflower or olive to infuse with and a gentle herb like calendula (25-50%). Shea butter contains a natural component that helps with the itch of eczema or even bug bites. The calendula will help with the healing of the dry spots. Of couse all together it is very moisturizing. Only a tiny tiny bit is needed. I also like to use chickweed & plantain to help with itching and healing. Since it's a baby, I'd be careful with using any essential oils, but maybe a drop or 2 of german chamomile in a couple ounces of balm. I made some stuff for my daughters eczema/rash she gets on her hands and made a couple products to use. The first was an aloe vera based gel with hydrolized oats to help the itch and discomfort. Then put on the shea butter rich cream, again aloe based. Used a touch of Tamanu for the added healing benefit and a drop of german chamomile & corsican heli. It practically cleared up overnight! No joke. She's 7. Don't want to clog the list with too much recipe stuff, so if you'd like further support or instruction I'd be happy to have you email me privately. I'm in a busy mode with Girl Scouts today but could definately set aside time tomorrow to give more specifics.
