Hi Everyone,

I'm Penny and have 'lurked' a long time on this group. Kind a shy I

guess.

Some of you have visited and purchased from my husband and mine's

website - Birch Hill Happenings Aromatherapy, Thank you very much.

Anyway, I just couldn't let this one go by. Poor Mom - Aline I feel

for you. But I wanted you to hear from another aspect of the eczema

dilemma.

One of the other more common food (and contact) allergies that is

often overlooked is that to Corn and it's by products.

Al, my hubby had eczema that started on his eyelids and over the

period of 20 years gradually increased and eventually covered his

entire body. Nothing worked including a course of prescription

steroids - in fact that made it worse (it was made with corn as the

filler for the tablets)!

In desperation he finally had a inclination that it might be a food

allergy after eating a few peanuts during a football game and having

an extremely itchy afternoon.

To the Doctors for a blood test for food allergies - WOW - Corn was

the number on culprit along with 4 other major foods (peanuts was not

one of them but the corn oil they were cooked in caused the

reaction).

Do you have ANY idea how much corn and corn by products are out there

not only in the foods but in personal care, laundry, and the list

goes on - over 600 commonly used foods and products - wow! Just too

much.

High Fructosed Corn syrup or such is everywhere.

Well, back to the baby. Do you use Cornstarch instead of another

baby powder?? Just a thought. Around the neck is a common place for

mothers to put powder, as we all know how those little folds can get

sweaty!

How about your laundry detergent, the bath soap, shampoo, lotions,

other common products that use corn by products?

Once we removed all the corn and corn by products from his diet and

skin exposures - shampoo, soaps, laundry etc the eczema lost it's

grip on his skin and he now has no eczema problems except on a rare

occasion where he may get it in a food when we eat out.

I feel for you as I know how miserable Al was. It was costly to have

the blood test as our insurance did not pay for it but it was the

best $500.00 we ever spent!

Hope this helps - if not you and your baby, but someone else.

Yours in Aromatherapy,

Penny
