Guest guest
Howdy fellow gardening friends, Since this always comes up in summer . let me get you started now . here is your link for jewelweed plants (available in SPRING): http://www.easywildflowers.com/quality/imp.cap.htm I'm getting a pack of these plants and will be gifting a couple of them to my sons' Tae Kwon Do Master, who got himself tangled up in some poison ivy in the garden last year and then tried to, of all things, (chlorine) bleach it away - which of course only served to irritate the poor already irritated guy even more L So I'll do my good deed for the season and pass along Mama Nature's Ivy Relief J A reminder of why you might want these plants: Jewelweed (Impatiens capensis) is superb for preventing and healing poison ivy rashes (I remember a few of you being unlucky enough last year to play in patches of the stuff - apparently the itchy fun is not just reserved for Tae Kwon Do Masters {grinz} ) .. and it's also good for all you soap makers to use for that most famous of " old fashioned lye soaps " - jewelweed soap - and you all know that customers from around the country and on these lists are always asking for it by midsummer! J So order it now! It's the fresh juice that's the really powerful stuff, not so much the dried herb, or even tincture! *Smile* Chris *(list mom - who is not affiliated with, nor endorsed by, nor paid by, the jewelweed plant provider listed above, or any jewelweed plant provider) http://www.czluxe.com http://www.alittleolfactory.com

Guest guest
They like to grow in wet soil. I find them growing wild here in Michigan on the edges of streams and lakes. C-M
Guest guest
Hi C-M! How are you?!?!?! So when I get my plants I should put them in a low spot that gets soggy, eh? Do you know what kind of light do they prefer? Thanks! *Smile* Chris (list mom) Last Chance – Leaping Leprechauns Sale Page On Sale Now – Until I Get To Change the Web Page http://www.alittleolfactory.com , Christa-Maria <cmaria wrote: > > They like to grow in wet soil. Guest guest
The best jewelweed tincture is made from jewelweed packed into a canning jar and AC vinegar. Just make sure the lid has some plastic coating, for the vinegar fumes will eat the metal lids. You can also freeze jewelweed. it has a glassy stem and it's the juice from the stem that is the healer. Jewelweed is a cousin to our shade Garden plant, the 'Impatiens', they have the same glassy stem. Kee would hang the stems , tucked into plastic bread bags from branches by a tree near her cabin, facing the sun. Every one who walked by had to squeeze the bags, so the liquid could run, the sun did the rest. It would be a reddish liquid which she used with vodka. for very bad case of systemic poison, she even gave some drops of it internally. BUT, I know it cured a bad case of athlete's food and some other skin outbreaks that can occur in summer from heat. I have an ample bosom and often get splotchy , itching skin between my boobs. the AC/Jewelweed tincture takes care of it immediately. Guest guest
As my Indian friends told me. Jewelweed likes to have their feet wet and a tree to shade them... Hugs, C-M
