Guest guest
I'm somewhat new to this group- at least not active thus far. HOwever, I've been workng on designing natural grains in microwavable heating pads. I've played with a variety of EO's and dried herbs. I've noticed that the scents seem to disappear after several heats. Is there something better out there? Am I not adding enough or what? I'm extremely new to EO's and learning as I go. Please advise me with ANYTHING and I'll be grateful!!! Has anyone done these before?
Guest guest
Perhaps if you heat the pads first then spray them with a mist of whatever scent you like, might be easier. I use canary bird seed with the tiny little grains in my pillows, when you heat them they make a moist heat which helps, and I spray them with lavender etc. I have a birdseed pillow that was given to me about 10 years ago and it will still bring a little moisture to the heat. Herbs/flowers... will work great for a few heating sessions, but as you have found out - the heat destroys them after a while. Natural products lose scent when exposed to heat or moisture after a while. This is normal and cannot be prevented. A good alternative might be to put the herbs/flowers into a seperate pouch/tube inside the heating pad and sell replacement pouches to your customers who want them. When/If I start selling mine, this is how I will do it.
