I've never used an extract, but I have some elderberry syrup simmering on my

stovetop right now and it smells fantastic!! I use organic elderberries, wild

cherry bark, cinnamon, ginger, astragalus, echinacea root, plantain leaf,

elecampane, and hibiscus for a wonderful remedy for colds, coughs, respiratory

infection. It tastes delicious and kids love it. You don't need ALL these

herbs, but this makes a nice combo.

All you need it about 2 measured ounces of herbs in total and 2 quarts of

water and simmer down to about a quart to a quart and a half and add either

organic sugar or honey (1 cup per quart of infusion) and a little cider vinegar

if desired and store in the fridge!
